Travel Consultants International, Travel Center Scammed me out of $436. They took 3 months and told me my trip had been voided due to a mistake on my part

I called Worldwide Travel to purchase a 3 day 2 night stay in South Beach Fl for $150 per person. I purchased a ticket for me and my husband for $300. They told me what the trip includes and that I wouold have to pay a small booking fee before booking my trip. After I made the $300 purchase, they told me I would receive booking information in the mail to book my trip. When received, I called the booking place (Travel Center) and booked for $136. They told me they would be sending my booking vouchers in the mail and that might take a few weeks.

After receiving the voucher which asked for information related to who was going and what trip I purchased. After I documented the information, I called the people to make sure I was doing it correctly. They told me that 14 days after they received the booking voucher, they would send me more information on what I needed to do further.

The last piece of information requested that we pay government taxes on the trip. They required money orders in the amount of $99 per person. They stated they wanted Postal Money orders, however I sent them 7-11 money orders. I talked with someone before mailing the money orders and she stated to read the directions on what to do carefully or they would send back the money orders. Since we sent the wrong money orders, they sent them back to us with a letter stating that our trip was voided and we had an opportunity to stay in a condo for one week for $129 perperson. The woman never mentioned that our trip would be cancelled if we made a mistake.

I attempted to call the inital travel agency I purchased the trip from for $300 in attempt to get a refund for a trip I never received. I was met with defensiveness, rudeness (I was hung up on), and was told to email customer service which provided no help. They told me the company had been sold as of 9/5 and turned into a place called Travel Consultants International. I reported them to the better business bureau in hopes to help get my money back.
