I spent hours searching for the right deal and location on a hotel and looked at many websites and hotels. I determined that Orbitz had the best offer on a good hotel, because they included a $50 food and beverage credit for my stay. When I booked, this credit was listed on my email confirmation. I called to confirm my reservation today and asked where to pick up the gift certificate and was told that this $50 credit was no longer available to me. Even though this was part of the reason I chose Orbitz and it was GUARANTEED on my reservation IN WRITING. I just spend the last hour and 15 minutes of MY VACATION time on the phone with Orbitz trying to get this sorted out. They only offered a $50 credit for Orbitz, which I have NO interest in due to the horrible service. I asked simply for a $50 credit back to my credit card. I was put through 3 different sets of agents and had to explain my story over and over again and was put on hold countless times only to be told they would simply call me back after I forward them my email confirmation guaranteeing the $50 credit. It is fraudulent behaviour to advertise something like this and GUARANTEE it in WRITING with a booking and then NOT provide it. I made this reservation BECAUSE of this gift certificate. I am extremely unhappy about the fraudulent behaviour of this website and the fact that over an HOUR of my vacation was taken away from me due to this UNRESOLVED issue. I would like to think that booking a reservation on a website like this should be stress-less, instead it has caused me a great deal of stress today. What Orbitz did was illegal by guaranteeing a $50 credit and then NOT PROVIDING it.
