I received a phone call for a 3 minute political survey. Seemed legit, as the automated survey had questions about Obama and the upcoming election. Call was placed from Gresham, OR.
Once I finished the survey I was transferred to a "Caribbean Cruise Line" travel coordinator. From there, their story is very similar to another scam report I read on this website: Free trip for 2 to the Bahamas, starting in Palm Beach, FL. Since we'll be in international waters, a port tax of $59 per person needed to be paid right now.
I balked, and he sent more info about the company to my email address. I still balked about giving my credit card right then, so got passed to a supervisor who tried a slimy hard sell. The old "must do it today or the offer's no good"... I got disgusted and hung up.
