Motel 6
I almost got killed by a guy with a bat because Motel 6 gave me someone else's room at 5am (Columbus)

Check this out~

This situation happened last December over the Christmas holidays, and to this day, I've yet to even get an apology, a 'kiss my buttage' or anything from them~

I was to pick up my son on the other side of Columbus OH, and coming from mid Iowa, it was a pure hell trip through rain/snow/sleet, and, a sprained right ankle... After driving a grueling 15 hours and being 5am, I just needed a place to crash for a few hours before picking up my son at 1pm near WV, just 2 hours away... Soooooooooo I pulled into good ol' Motel 6, paid for my room, and proceeded to it because I was about to drop over from exhaustion.

I was given room key #309. So with baggage in hand, I tried the door card, started to open the door, and it seemed... Stuck. So I tugged, then pushed again... I look up, and the door was chained from what I could see from the unlit walkway~

Next thing I know? A man comes to the door from inside of the room, sticks a bat out the door, and proceeds to call me every name in the book and said if I didn't get away from the door, he was basically going to beat my head in with a bat that he had a death grip on~

I had awakened the poor guy from a dead sleep and he thought I was trying to break into his room.

Needless to say, it scared the beJesus out of me, so I hobbled back to the front desk, only to have the clerk meet me at the window and say, "Uh... Sorry about that. I gave you the wrong key." And she laughed. I almost got my head bashed in, and she thinks it's funny~ I then told her I needed a wakeup call for 11:30am. She said no problem, and then handed me room key #314, where I again journeyed out to hopefully get some sleep before that guy hunted me down and bashed me like a melon~

I went to the bathroom~ the bathroom light didn't work, so I had to shower in the dark, and when I went to adjust the shower head because it was pointed at the wall, chunks of plaster fell into the tub like confetti on New Years~ only to then whip the sheets back on one bed to find 'mysterious' hair ON one of the pillows~ lovely.

Which brings me to the pinnacle of my Motel 6 stay: I woke up, looked at the clock, and it was now 2:45pm. Remember, I requested the 11:30am wakeup call?

I frantically began getting my stuff together, and in the midst of my hot roller slinging, called the front desk, and a gentleman answered that sounded like he was just learning the English language, and I said, "Um... This is room #314. Wasn't I supposed to receive an 11:30am wakeup call?"
He said, "Ya." I said, "Well, I never got it." To which he replied, "Well... (unintelligible convo for 15 seconds) you're up now!"

HA! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet~ so to make a long horrid day short, my 14 year old son was at his friend's house, I hadn't been heard from, and he took it upon himself to call every police station, and every hospital in between Columbus OH and Parkersburg WV, concluding that half of the eastern US police force was looking for me, thinking I had been injured or killed in some accident.

As I left Motel 6, I was so furious, I stopped at the front desk, asked for a manager, to which another clerk said the manager was busy, but she'd give her my message. "Awwwwwwww (laughs) what a night you had, huh?" Yeah~ ok...

Ya know, I totally understand the fact that Motel 6 is nothing but a budget chain motel, and that's ok. I knew this going into it. I just wanted a bed for a few hours, not the Taj Mahal. I just wanted to be able to see the soap while I showered. I just wanted to know that I wouldn't get 'mystery' hair in my mouth while I slept, and I surely just wanted to open up my own room door and not take a chance on getting the hell beaten out of me by a half-asleep man, and if you offer wakeup call service, for God's sake, either do it or do away with it.

I have to go back to WV at the end of this month, and I'd be better off sleeping in my car if I'm tired this time, instead of entrusting a company that has such uncaring management. I've still not heard a word to this day.

It's no wonder people call it Motel Sux~ what a disgusting place that was~ I've stayed in a lot of places, but that one was totally out of the ball park~ and I mean this literally.
