My husband got a Mass Pike Fastlane violation, for a location about 20 minutes away, showing a pic of his license plate; the time of the supposed violation was when he and his car were at home! He has a transponder, and there was plenty of $ in his account.

His statement showed him entering the Pike near our house 1/2 hour after the alleged violation and exiting at the location of the supposed violation. The violation was dismissed, but they proceeded to charge $2.40 for the toll (it's normally $0.30, and he already paid it!), and a $5.00 "administrative fee". Talk about highway robbery! Their equipment malfunctioned and had an incorrect time stamp, and we have to pay for them to correct their error, and then are charged 8 times what the toll should be!

Furthermore, I called FastLane and spoke with an absolutely horrid, rude woman named Sarah; I tried to explain the situation to her, and all I got was "the violation was dismissed; have a good day." And she hung up on me. I did speak later to a very nice man named Ken who explained that I'd have to request a hearing to get the toll reversed, but that the "administrative charge" would unlikely be reversed. BTW, all the FastLane people are outsourced, so you don't get to talk to anyone with any true authority.

I'm closing both accounts, and will just pay cash at the toll booths in the future. It's not like there's a lot of money involved — it's the principle.
