5 Star Resorts contacted me by phone offering to rent my Wolrdmark timeshare credits for which I had 4 weeks worth. For each week booked by someone who wanted to "try out" the resorts I would receive $2500.in order to take advantage of their offer, I had to come up with an up-front amount of a mere $1,170. The more I hesitated, the ruder the man became. I smelled a rat.
I had previously sold my timeshare ownership about a month before and my accumulated credits went with the sale. The two people I talked to insisted that the credits were non-transferrable. I called Worldmark and confirmed that the credits were gone. When I called 5 Star Resorts back, they insisted that they were still on the books and continued to pressure me to authorize the $1,170 by credit card. I put them off till the next day.
That evening I contacted the Better Business Bureau in Carlsbad. They said that 5 Star was not listed with them and sent me the specific link on consumer complaints. I can see that I'm not the only one who is not happy with 5 Star. I avoided another rip-off. I'd been taken to the clearners by two other sites which promised to sell my timeshares. No luck with either and my combined $1,050 is down the tube. I have since learned that one of them is under investigation for fraud in Florida.
I may post a report on these two outfits, also.
