I booked my trip in February and was sent a detailed itinerary showing the specific hotels that I would be staying in. All were 4 stars and centrally located in each city that we were to be staying in. I looked them all up on the internet and was pleased.
Then, the first week of May I received an envelope from TSW Travel with my travel tags, info as to flight delays etc. And the very last page detailed the Accomodations. My trip was to begin May 13 so this was received 2 weeks before departure. I didn't notice that the hotels had been changed in 3 out of 4 cities. There was no "Amendment", "Notice of Change", or any mention of Hotel changes. I was too excited about my trip and trusted that unless something was flagged as changed that it would be exactly as it was when I committed to the trip. Also, it bears noting, there was no email or direct line of communication about these trip changing changes! Also, the owner, operator, Eric Kravitz emailed the group that these particular documents had been mailed (and failed to mention the changes), and now he was going to be out of town and unavailable until May 6 etc. Our tour would start May 13.
Our first hotel was the only accomodation that stayed the same. So, from May 17 - May23 every hotel was a downgrade and disappointment. Our tour group was dispirited and angry. Eric Kravitz said that these substitutions were equal in value but that is not the case.in Florence for example, we were to stay at the Executive Hotel Florence which is centrally located, but ended up staying at the Hotel Diplomat which is located across the street from a train station. I took a picture out of my window of the homeless people leaning against the train station wall! Also, the room I shared with my roomate only had one bed and a pull out couch!!! Check out the differences yourself and see if these are apples and apples! Another change, in Rome, we went from the Grand Hotel Palatino to the Residenza Di Ripetta. And finally, in Venice we went from the Ca' dei Conti to the Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal. Venice was a huge disappointment as so much time was spent walking to the sites that would have been just outside our original hotel. There were many causes for concern on this trip but I will keep it brief and factual. Do Not sign up for this company's trips as the owner operator can't be trusted (in my opinion). If the substitutions that were used were to be the original hotels on our trip I never would've signed up. Allsingles travel misrepresented the tour by failing to clearly communicate changes and make the appropriate reparations.
