My husband, 16 year old son, 12 year old daughter, and 8 year old grand daughter were standing at the desk with me when I requested a family room for two nights. I requested to have the room that my daughter in law had rented earlier as she was not going to stay the night. The clerk seemed to be very nice and charged, the price that she had quoted to me, to my visa card. We settled in for the night and took off early the next morning for the beach.
We returned to our room that afternoon, only to find that we had been locked out of our room. The maid opened our door for us and said that we needed to speak with the clerk. I attemped to change my clothes when my 12 year old daughter stated that she had just taken a call from the desk and that we had been told to leave. There were three more calls that followed and all from a very rude clerk stating that we were "bad people" and had to "get out now". I was grabbing my shoes to go down and see what on earth the problem was when I was met at the door by the clerk. She stated that we had to leave now and that she was going to call the police. I asked her to please do so as I had no idea what the problem was. At that point she said that we could stay, but that I had to pay $50.00 more because "your kid too big". I told her that we would be happy to leave, but that I would like a refund for that night. She said "no refund, just pay now". We paid the money! Her lack of english made it imposable to resolve whatever her issue was.
We noticed that somebody had been in the room while we were out and didn't even leave clean towels. My grand daughter found a condom under the bed and we found that there were small roaches climbing out from behind the bathroom sink. We were getting into our car early the next morning and watched the smiling clerk run up to the room to see how we left it. I hope that she wasn't too let down that it was as clean as when we had received it.
