Made reservations for a hotel room in orlando using hotelplusportal.com. The rep recommended La Quinta INN on international drive based on our budget and location. We get to our destination and we're shocked at what we see. The room is filthy, terrible musty odor, ripped shower curtains, and the worst is gang signs in the closet. Kids our frightened after seeing the gang signs. Needless to say, we decide not to stay in the room and explain this to the manger who is very nice and understanding. He does not charge us for the room. So, my wife calls hotelplusportal to speak to a rep to make other arrangements but only gets a recorded message that states someone will call back the next day. Well, this doesn't help with our situation so we take action and get a nicer room elsewhere. The following day a rep from hotelplus calls us back. My wife explains to him the reasons why the room was not acceptable and alternative arrangements could have been made if someone at hotelplus were available at the time. The rep agreed and stated a manager would contact us regarding the charge. Well, the manager call us back with a song and dance that is utter BS. He says they paid the hotel already and we need to get our refund from the hotel. I politely ask him how could that be since the hotel manager did not charge us for the room. And, again he repeats the same garbage. Ok, at this point Im pretty pissed, so I call the manager at La Quinta who is very nice and he ensures me they have not been paid because they only get paid if we stay in the room which makes sense to me. At this point I smell a big rat so I call the manager back at hotelplus. The rat gives me the same old song and dance again even though I tell him the manager at la quinta refutes what he is saying. At this point, I throw my hands up and decide to handle this with my credit card and call the fraud department to dispute the charge. At first, I was feeling pretty good because the charges were reversed. Then today, I find out the charges were reversed back again because hotelplus faxed some documents about their cancellation policy. Well, I never cancelled the reservation. I just didn't accept the room because of the aforementioned problems. Anyway, I spoke again to my credit card company and they are going to run this by the visa board. Whew! All this just to take my family to disney world to have a good time. Warning to all... Stay away from hotelplus their recommendations are bad and you will never get your money back.
