Ok, so I purchased 2 tickets for my girlfriend and I on May 17. The purchase was made at www.southwest.com for two flights to St. Pete Florida. We were supposed to go down there to visit her father who had just been released from the hospital for Congenital heart failure.
Around May 27th My Girlfriend ended up in the hospital due to massive swelling in her legs. After 4 days in the hospital she was released but told she was not to fly to florida due to potential for blood clots in her legs. Doctors are still doing tests currently.
I called Southwest and they told me that i couldnt get a refund on my tickets but that they would hold them for up to a year. I challenged it saying that we may not be flying there within the next year or two if at all with the current situation. The representative then told me that if the tickets were not used within a year that we could get a special waiver for new tickets.
If i had wanted to reverve my tickets for a later date I would have mentioned it. Southwest is scamming people on thier flights and its not right. If I cancel a flight then I should be refunded that is the law of commerce. Where does this company get the idea they can keep peoples money? And why isnt anyone challenging this scam in court?
