Diamond Resorts International sent my husband and myself 3 communications all dated 3/28/09 (2 sent certified, 1 sent via regular mail) and all arriving on 3/31/09. These were all identical copies of a 30-Day Final Notice for our timeshare's maintenance fee. The company "claims" that they have sent us other notices which we never received. The company has since tacked on over $500 in miscellaneous fees that they are now saying that we owe.
Ironically, my mother, who is also an owner at this same timeshare experienced the EXACT same thing that we did; no communications receive until receiving multiple 30-Day Final Notices all sent on the same day and and with the same $500 in miscellaneous fees added on. When my mother called, she was able to speak to a manager who waived the $500 in bogus fees, just leaving her the $1,400 maintenance fee to pay.
When I contacted the company today, I was transferred around from person to person and ended up speaking to someone who "claimed" to be a manager (who sounded like he was in a room full of giggling teenagers, as I could hear them all laughing in the background). He blamed the U.S. Postal Service and said they could not responsible for the mail. I told him that this had nothing to do with the Postal Service, as my mother had the exact same experience that I did. He had no answer for that. This company is attempting to collect an extra $500 per timeshare owner simply by not sending out any invoices and then slamming the consumer when they have 30 days left before they are "foreclosed" on. This is fraud!!!
