Do not purchase a ticket online!

My son was in Granada, Spain for the month of June taking classes. He flew from Ireland via Ryan Air, no problem. I purchased his return ticket home (Bristol, CT) online using my credit card.in ever so small print on Iberia's website, is a note you will need to produce the credit card before boarding the plane. However, if I put in the 3 digit security code, he wouldn't need the credit card. He didn't have the credit card because I bought his ticket. He was scheduled to come home on June 30th. I wanted to verify he wouldn't have any problems boarding so I called Iberia to check. I was told he would not be able to board unless he produced the credit card. After talking to 3 different people, my choices were to purchase a new ticket for him on the phone (which he wouldn't need to produce a credit card for) or drive to the nearest Iberia office and show them my credit card! Needless to say I was OUTRAGED! This is a flawed, deceptive policy since it states right on their website if you put in the security code you will not have a problem. There is obviously no problem purchasing a ticket on the phone! I had to drive down to JFK airport, the closest Iberia office and show them my credit card. I had to miss a dinner party that night because of the limited hours this office was open (3:00-6:00 P.M.) This was a major inconvenience for me as well as my daughter who accompanied me and also spent time talking to the Iberia staff.
I WiILL NEVER FLY IBERIA AGAIN unless they change this policy of producing the credit card before you board.
