Refuses Customer Compensation for Property Lost by Staff Budapest

An airline company has refused to reimburse a customer for personal items that were misplaced by its staff members after the customer checked in at Sarajevo Airport. The misplaced items which were later stolen included a high end laptop computer, electronic car keys, EUR 400 cash, and additional items such as clothing and carrying bags.

Gza Fehrvry, Chief Operations Office in Malev's Budapest office, has indicated they will not be compensating the customer, even though their staff had misplaced his items.

Investigators have found Malev has failed to protect the personal possessions of customers, allowing them to be victims of theft.inquiries have found there have been at least six specific occasions which have been documented in which customer relations staff at Malev have failed to compensate customers for security lapses and loss of personal property of customers by their staff.

Despite the complaints, a spokesperson for Customer Relations at the airline claimed passengers had not been mistreated and ruled out paying any compensation to customers for their lost items.

Consumer affairs experts have added that Malev has risked a passenger backlash after refusing to compensate victims of theft occurring from continuing security lapses in the airline's check-in at airports such as Sarajevo.

Travel expert Piotr Kosztka added: There is little doubt that Malev has been evading responsibility in customer complaints regarding theft of passengers personal property in Malev's care. It is understandable if someone launches a complaint when they are being held responsible to replace the items on their own expense.

Magdolna Klt, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Malev, could not be reached for comment.

I told them that since the items were in their care and were stolen, it is my right to demand compensation from the airline company, since it was a security lapse on their part, the customer adds.
