Spirit airlines has a serious problem specifically from mexico to ft lauderdale. This is common knowledge and spirit chooses to do nothing. Nothing.
Due to the new regulations you cannot take anything liquid over 1 oz in your carry on. The SOB thugs in baggage handling were absolutely delighted when this new rule took effect.
Here are 2 reasons why.
First of all, you have to put all your haircare, fragrances and skin care in your luggage. These thieves will leave behand the Kmart slop and take the "good stuff" every time.
Second of all, we have had to "throw away" small vials of stuff that they make excuses for. Stuff they let us take on before with no problem. They have taken new stuff with the seal still in tact. "It's over an ounce", the "baggie doesn't seal", BLAH BLAH BLAH, whatever. Did you ever notice that they throw it in a receptacle? Are you telling me that the employees don't take that recepticle and divvy it up after we go through the line? And who is going to screw with security over a small but expensive vial of something when you are just trying to get your butt on the plane?
Do this next time. Save the empty bottle from something brand name, top shelf. Lancome, Dolce, whatever. Make sure it complies with the rules, it's under an ounce and fits in a zip lock sandwich baggie. Put dollar store lotion in it. See how long you can keep it before it is confiscated.
The rule is, in effect, a Homeland Security License to Steal for them.

We got off easy this time. There are people out there who are out THOUSANDS of dollars in one robbery of their luggage.
We purchased a Dolce watch and wore it home. We put a Dolce fragrance in the watch box to protect it.
There is good new and there is bad news.
From Mexico to Ft. Lauderdale they riffled through our luggage and took the $75.00 fragrance. That is the bad news.By the way, when security legitimately goes through your bags to inspect them, they leave a form in the bag telling you that they inspected your bag. I don't have a problem with that. Everyone wants to be safe.
The good news is that they thought that they were getting a $350.00 watch when they tore open the box. All the *#^! &$*! S got was the Dolce fragrance.
We learned a $75.00 lesson here. Some learn a $1,000 lesson. We are the lucky ones.
And to whoever took the Dolce fragrance: There is an old saying, "You can put pearls and perfume on a pig, but at the end of the day it is still a pig.
At the end of your day your are a luggage handler in a dead end job. Wear the Dolce and enjoy it you sow.
