CLEAR airport security program/service is useless and not worth $200/ year. I fly frequently from several airports and in nearly 2 yrs with the program, I was only able to use the service ONCE about 3 months ago.
I found that there was nothing about it that is worth $400. You are lead to believe if you take the trouble to travel all the way to one of their few registration stations, submit to a retina scan and finger printing, after submitting to a full background check already, you will be able to walk straight through security at the airport. Not so at all. All you get for the above and the complete invasion of your privacy, is to be escorted past some of the other passengers in line. Then you have to step up on their machine and waste your time having your retina and fingers scanned. Finally, you have to step over and do absolutely EVERYTHING that a regular passenger does, who did not pay $200/yr, did not have to have a background check done and did not have to hand over extremely sensitive personal information the government doesn't even have on you. Yes, you have to remove all metal objects (no big deal), you have to remove laptop from bag (much bigger deal but just about acceptable) and yes you STILL HAVE TO TAKE OFF YOUR *&@! Shoes! (and there is still no convenient or efficient place for you to put them back on).
There is no way going through the above and paying $200 (or more now)/yr just to line-jump. I travel a lot and don't believe I have ever waited at security for more than 40mins anywhere in the world.
40mins wait in line now and then perhaps, and the rest much less vs. $200 or more every year and invasion of privacy? It a no brainer. This service is a complete ripoff and I am most frustrated at myself for being duped this badly and that it took this long for me to figure it out!!
