8/6/07 My family of 5 arrived Ft. Lauderdale from Costa Rica at 5:40am. We had a scheduled 6:40am connecting flight. No Spirit Air rep met us at Customs to priortize passengers with tight connections (US Customs was irate with Spirit for this). The Spirit baggage 'RE-Check' facility was unmanned with no directions how we re-check our bags. We eventually carried everything upstairs for the general check-in. 150 in line and 3 reps available for ck-in.

Being close to missing our flight, we fought our way to the front only to be told we had to ck in 45 mins before the flight to claim our seats. We advised the reservation only allowed a total of 55 mins between flights—it was met with a shrug of the shoulders. Then we were told our flight had already left us. Earliest rebooking was 6.5 hrs later with no guarantee we would all get on the later flight.

None of the Spirit Air Reps wear name-tags in Ft. Lauderdale so you cannot track who you speak to. Bad information is rampant among employees. We decided our best option was to rent a car. Spirit refused to re-book or compensate us for the missed final leg of our flight.
