This is one to avoid: From in to check out, The Renaissance Vinoy Resort&Golf Club. This resort exemplifies the term, beauty is only skin deep.
We had my daughter wedding there this April 07. The cocktail hour, the seafood buffet, and the passed hor d'oeuvres were non-existent (not enough groceries) The seafood buffet could not surport the number of guests.
The Legendary Renaissance Vinoy the pros at putting on weddings were in fact less then professional. (my guests, instead of eating seafood watched ice melt) The sit down dinner resembled bad airline food, the Filet Mignon and a piece of Grouper were the size of a small spoon. The premium brand liquor that we paid for was not recognizable.
The next morning we held a continental breakfast at $25 per head. The breakfast was less than what you would expect to get free at any self-respecting motel. My wife and I were totally embarrassed.
Looking for a place to have a wedding? This is not the place! You do not want the Vinoy, who are supposed to be wedding professional, to handle such a special and memorable occasion. The Renaissance Vinoy touts itself as "The Legendary Renaissance Vinoy", but when it comes down to it, it's just another Marriott.
