Cross Creek Resort
Dog track golf course, rip off flee bag hotel, and bad attitude

I amazes me that this place does the business that they do! There are 20-40 of us that started going there 15 years ago for a three-day golf package. They list themselves as a golfer's paradise. I guess if you play golf 5 times per year and can't break 100 it may be a good getaway if you take plenty of booze.

They mow the greens every 2 or 3 days, they change cups every 3 or 4 days and they never rake their sand traps. This was not a fluke thing as it has been this way every time we have gone. Their fairways have holes, by the hundreds, big enough to bury a large dog (hence the AKA Dog Track). It is quite common that, in the middle of the fairway, you can not take a proper stance. This is exemplified by the fact that their score card has a local rule that allows you to move the ball in your own fairway at any time.

Every morning there is a line of about 25 golfers who must wait in line in the pro shop for a guy to hand them a cart tag and a bag tag... Then you must go stand in line to get a cart key! Even though they give you tee times, which you have to fight for with their booking staff, you will invariably be held up when you make the turn because they stick people in between your outing to try to make a little more money!

The only attraction they have is that it is a place you can arrive on Friday and not have to leave the property until Sunday because it's all on the premises. But here is a breakdown of their cost so you can see for yourself. An unlimited golf package with cart for Friday, Saturday & Sunday is $353 and includes breakfast buffet, dinner buffet, and lodging (their unlimited golf package does not include unlimited cart use, it requires an upgrade). This breaks down to something like $10 for breakfast, $19 for dinner, $35 for double occupancy motel room, and $75 for golf per day per person. Believe me, the golf course is not worth nearly $75 to play and chain hotels, at half the cost, have nicer rooms and amenities!
