I too bought into the "Ramada" scam! After 3 hours of saying no on the phone - I ended up giving my CC# out for the down payment of $498. I thought I got a great deal - they kept adding more and more to the package.
I purchased the pkg in March with a 3yr extention. After one year, I received a phone call from one of the customer service people. We spent 2.5 hrs going through all the details of my reservations - I didn't make them sooner because the paperwork said you had to give 3 possible dates. The CSR assured me that he could do my reservation right over the phone today so that I would lock into the dates I needed. I then found out that only 4 people can fit into the cabin on the cruise - we have 3 children!
I had to pay an additional $410 to get another cabin and was pursuaded into upgrading to ocean-view cabins. All in all my pkg ended up costing $1793.
I looked on the internet to research the hotel we would be staying at - only to find out that it is not a "resort" or even anywhere near the beach! I stumbled across this sight and was absolutely stunned. I immediately call RPR and told them I wanted to cancel my whole vacation. Of course I was passed to 3 different CSRs and finally after 1/2 hr I was told that I would have to call back M-F / 9-3 to talk to my original rep. (I thought he didn't work there - every time I called and asked for him I got so other inadequate rep) My next call was to American Express to dispute the charges - they immediately reversed the charges. I am still out my original deposit of $498 which I am going to try some of the suggestions on this site to get back, but I am so greatful that I didn't go all the way to Florida to find out about this. Thank you so much to everyone who brought this to my attention.
