I-Deal Direct
Ripoff dishonestly offered free airfare with 14-Day Trial

I signed up on airfare4free.com A.K.A. Ideal direct, hoping to receive free airfare as they promised. They claimed that if I completed one offer, I would receive the airfare.

I completed one offer on November 19, and I still have not received my airfare.in spite of multiple e-mails with customer service representative, Maggie, I have not been given a satisfactory reason as to why this is not going to happen. The story as to why I cannot get my airfare keeps changing from "we need confirmation e-mail" to "we need a credit card statement" to "you should have completed a month."

Through their website, I signed up for a 14 day trial of Real Rhapsody (similar to their current offer of a 14 day trial of RealOne Superpass). I completed the 14 day trial and then canceled. Before cancelling, I read the terms and conditions. Nowhere in them was there anything stating that I had to go beyond the 14 day trial or charge anything to a credit card account.

After a 6-week period of waiting for my offer to process, I contacted their customer service department. The following is the first reply I received on January 24

Dear Rebecca,

Unfortunately, we do not have your confirmation on file for Real Rhapsody. While this may not be your fault, in order to receive your free gift, we still need to verify that you did in fact complete that sponsored offer through our site. Please forward the confirmation email, complete with the header of the email that you received from them which includes your account number with signup date and proof of purchase or a credit card statement confirming your purchase. We just want to verify that you did in fact sign up for the offer by clicking on it directly through the final page of our site. As soon as we receive your applicable response, we can mail your free
gift!

Thank you!

There were several other e-mails requesting credit card statements showing where I paid for Real Rhapsody. I responded that I did not have to pay, that it was a free trial.

Becky,

In order to give you credit for the Real Rhapsody membership we actually need to see a credit card statement showing that you were charged for the offer. I know you said it was a free trial but did they ever put a hold for an amount on your credit card or charge you for anything at all? I cannot get my supervisor to approve the offer without some form of proof.

Thank you!

I did not have the original confirmation e-mail, but I contacted Real Rhapsody to have them send me an e-mail confirming my sign-up with them. They did. Here it is:

I sent it to Maggie, and her respose suddenly changed. She changed the story from "we need proof" to "you needed to fulfill an entire month." This had NEVER been mentioned in all of our e-mailing or on the terms and conditions. Here is her e-mail:

Becky,

As I stated before, in order to get credit for Real Rhapsody you have to pay for the service for a full month. Any customer service representative that works here will tell you the same exact thing.in order to give you credit we need a copy of the credit card statement showing charges from Real Rhapsody. If you cancelled it before you are charged you are advised to complete another offer on the website in order to get the approval for the Airfare.

Thank you!
Maggie

She had never stated that before. She had asked for e-mails or credit card statements. But this was the first I had heard of needing to complete a month, and it is just not stated on their site.

In addition, when I contacted Real Rhapsody, they said they have nothing to do with iDeal Direct. It made me wonder if this is a scam to get credit card numbers! I am glad I never gave them mine.

I e-mailed Maggie one final time, letting her know that I would be contacting you.
