N my specific scenario after having gone through all the steps and filling out my identity, contact and credit card information I press purchase and 5 seconds later I receive on my phone a statement from my bank saying the $2,600.80 has been deducted from my account to the actual name of the airline carriers company. 5 seconds after this message the web page on my computer, which i attempted to make the purchase from, stated that the ticket reservation could not go through as the tickets were no longer available.
I call up the bank and sure enough $2,600 could was deducted and pending the merchant who was addressed as Hainan Airlines (for which the purchase was conducted through Orbitz's system).
Orbitz is the only travel agent system that I've ever heard of that takes/suspends your money before actually making sure there are still tickets. I hope I do not become like many other victims whom have actually waited the pending period and had the money deducted from their account days later with nothing to show for it. Then having the headache of contesting through their bank.
Orbitz has made a hell out of my experience. Save your time, money, and effort and avoid orbitz.
