I went to book a hotel at airporthotelguide.com and it had nothing on the website about usage policy or any usage fees and when I went through the process of booking, it redirected to another website reservetravel.com
This was all fine, but it said: "This discount rate requires a non-refundable Internet access fee at time of reservation and will appear on your credit card as Alliance Reservations Network."
At first I just took it as Internet access in the room and booked it. I then remembered it said Internet access was free in the room and I called the hotel directly to verify it and they said it was. They also informed me they would give me the same rate, so I cancelled the reservation and booked it directly. I then cancelled the reservation through reservertravel.com and requested a refund of the $5 per night fee since Internet access was free and their rate wasn't lower than what the hotel gave me.
They then informed me that the $5 per night fee was a service fee for the low rates and refused to refund my money.
They were very rude on the phone about it and they changed the statement on the website to "Service Fee".
So they admitted the statement was not clear and even changed it to read "Service Fee" instead of "Internet access fee". The rate was not the lowest, and they still refused to refund my $15 (I had booked 3 nights).
RipOff!
