Travelocity (Cruise)
False Advertisement

Travelocity had a great deal on a 13 night Transatlantic Royal Caribbean cruise from San Juan to Malaga. No complaints there. The issue is the way they advertise. They tagged this particular cruise departure date April 15th and clearly stated room prices ($449 Oceanview) with promotions for onboard credit, a romance package (roses, wine and chocolate covered strawberries), an American Express bonus offer, discount on shore excursions, a special rate and no booking fees. ALL of these promotions were specifically posted with the special rate so we booked. Now they are saying that because we booked the promotional rate, the rate is not combinable with any other promotions or discounts. If that's the case, why were they all linked to the promotional rate. False advertisement. They should not place those promotions specifically with the promotional rate. I've been going back and forth with the Travelocity Cruise team with some agreeing to the misleading ad. The last call was with Bethann, in their Promotional Dept, who told me that all the promotions may not apply. So why promote it as it would apply? I understand I wouldn't get the AX discount b/c I didn't use an AX card when booking. I also knew that I wouldn't qualify for the senior discount. Obvious because of my age. I did purchase an ocean view room so I should qualify for the $50 onboard spending and this particular cruise was tagged to qualify for the romance package. They said this particular cruise is not a European cruise so it doesn't qualify for the romance package. Then why is the promotion specifically tagged to this cruise, on this departure date? As for the onboard spending credit, they said we don't qualify because we chose the discounted price. The price I chose, was the one they had advertised with the promotions and I specifically chose the oceanview room to get the promotion. If those promotions didn't apply to the special rate, why were they tagged to that specific rate? The tags that do not apply to that rate should either not be there or tagged to the rates they apply to, right?! The promotion ended yesterday so I made copies of everything, to back up my statements, knowing that it would no longer be on their website today. The promotions were just added bonuses but it's a matter of principal. Others should be aware since the added promotions may be deal breakers. I'm waiting to hear back from a manager, within 24 hours, or so they say!
