So i backpacked for several weeks in the states after working at a summer camp (im a british tourist) and naturally greyhound was the first service i heard of... Oh what a mistake it was... I travelled from NYC to miami return and each journey was 30 hours of hell... Upon asking about directions to the bus at new york's port authority (for those that havnt been there its quite a confusing place), i was mocked by one of the rudest women iv ever met... The drivers werent much better and after being dumped in fayetteville, NC for 2 hours in the middle of the night, our driver proceeded to shout at one woman for forgetting her paper ticket to reboard the bus (nearly bringing this woman to the brink of tears), they then found they tried dumping my bag in orlando (which if i didnt see it happen infront of me i wouldnt have realised till arriving in miami). When i finally arrived in miami all i could think about was dreading the return trip the next week.
Returning at miami, i then got yelled at by a boarding woman because i only displayed one of the paper tickets instead of all of them... She also shouted at several other groups of tourists... Dont sit at the back of the bus because the toilet smell is awful... Iv been on many bus journeys in several countries but iv never come across as terrible service as greyhound, every single one of the staff i met didnt deserve the job they had...
All this for 4 times the price and 10 times the length of time i could have covered the same distance at home in europe.
