I had a 1999 Sea Doo XP. I took it to the dealship (Metro Motorsports, Phoenix, AZ-also see the consumer complaints on this company) to have the jets in the carbs changed for the altitude in Phoenix (I moved there from Colorado Springs). For the next 7 months the dealership kept trying to get the carbs adjusted correctly (the motor blew up 3 times) but they never got the ski running at all. After all this, Sea Doo said sorry your warranty has expired and we are not going to pay for any more repairs. I said, this was an on-going problem and the ski has been at an authorized Sea Doo dealership for the past 7 months (and the warranty expired while the ski was still at the dealership). They said sorry you are on your own.
It cost me a few thousand dollars to get the ski running and then I sold it.
So, if you buy a Sea Doo and they can't fix the problem before the warranty expires or if the dealer lets your ski sit in the parking lot until the warranty expires, you will have to pay to have it fixed.
The bottom line is that I was left without a ski for over 9 months and I had to pay to have it fixed (even though it broke and was at a dealership before the warranty expired).
DON"T BUY A SEA DOO. Try a Yamaha, they don't brake very often.
