I ordered a trick riding saddle from Hilason off the internet. I paid almost $1000 for it. I saw just this year for less than $400. I bought this saddle for my 15 yr old son to use for trickriding. I had my mother in Houston pick up the saddle. She got there to pick it up and noted he was foreign and it was a warehouse full of saddles.
I picked the saddle up from her, tried it the first day in the barn on the horse. I couldn't even get up on the horse without it rolling, much less do any tricks from it. The crupper handles are two separate pieces and won't hold with the type of stitches they put in it. It's made on a cutter tree, not the trickriding tree that is necessary.
The horn is loose, never even put any weight on it, it rocks back and forth. It is loose because they attached the horn on the top of the swells of the tree instead of sitting inside it and bolting into the bottom of the swells. That explains why the horn looks like something out of a porno.
I did some more digging on the internet on Hilason and came up with numerous BBB complaints against them, including customers shipping back their items due to dissatisfaction for one reason or another and never receiving their money back.
Knowing this, I called Hilason, spoke to Sohib, he said send it back for a refund. I sent it back with my mother. She set an appt. To meet with him to get my refund and he never showed. He lives across the street and told her he was on his way and still never showed. She brought the saddle back to me and suggested calling him again. I live 5 hours away from this place, I can't just run back and forth up here hoping to catch this guy.
I called explaining it wasn't a safe item, it won't hold up to trickriding in any way, shape, or form. I explained to him that someone was going to get seriously hurt or killed if they tried to use these saddles for what they were advertised. He then accused me of threatening him and he was calling his attorneys.
I would like for him to get his attorneys. I offered to help him design the saddle correctly and safely. Needless to say, I know of quite a few trickriders that have had the same experience. These people do not know anything about any equestrian sport at all. There is no Jim Murray running the company.
Oh, and did I tell you the saddle smelled like day old dead hooker? It was rancid, worst thing I've ever smelled, EVER. Must be that fine Indian tanning technique.
