When I was thrown into a position through no fault of my own where I couldn't use my cell phone from cingular for 2 months (it was a brand new service, just got my phone and service), they cut my phone off. When I called to have it turned back on, they said I had to pay the original bill of like $150, plus I had to pay a cut-off fee of about $150, which jacks my bill up pretty good. So now i have to pay $300 before I can get the thing turned back on. I was able to pay the $150, but not $300. But no, they wouldn't have that. They wanted to be stingy. So i had to just leave the bill off.
Then my mother put me on her family plan, where I have a separate number from hers, and I get a separate amount to pay - but it's on my mother's family bill - I just pay my part. I have my own business, make decent money, although I'm just starting out, but my mother knew I could pay her every month for my part - no problem. It was supposed to be about $45 for 600 minutes (or something similar to that).
So everythings fine for about 3 months, I pay my mom my part of the bill every month. Then the next thing I know they start jacking up the bill real big, like $200 over what I had been paying to my mom for the last 3 months. They had no proof of the extra minutes they claim I used for this ridiculous bill hiking, and they caused my mother to be furious at me, griping me out instead of wanting facts, so she had my phone turned off without telling me and it screwed me up royally because I ran a business off this phone until I could financially be able to pay off some bills and be able to find a good wireless company on my own. Anyway, when my mother cut off my phone without asking me any questions or wanting any facts, it cause me and her to get into a horrible argument. She was taking Cingular's screwed up bill as the FACTS, instead of asking me if I really used all those minutes, or asking Cingular to show her the bill.
Well, my mother got so ugly in our disagreement about the amount of money Cingular was asking to be paid, that she told me to just not call her anymore. And it broke my heart for her to say that to me, especially without having all the facts, and taking a stupid Cell phone's word over mine, when she knew I never had reason to lie to her about that or anything else before. Well, I stopped talking to my mother for about 2 months, because she told me to leave her alone. She may not have meant it, but she still said it, and doing that as well as turning off my phone really hurt me. So I finally found another expensive pay-up-front type cell phone where you pay in advance for a 600 mimute-a month type prepaid service for like $100, but at least I was back in business for the meantime which was critical.
Well I hated Cingular for sending my mom a bill full of crap, without minutes to back up the claim they stated, and causing my mom to get all mad at me and stop talking to me over the dumb phone bill. I wasn't even having any trouble sending my mom the payments I owed her every month. I just didn't believe that I owed Cingular $300 on that particular bill, when it was no different than all the other ones for $45-60 each month!
Well two months after the argument, my mother died, and I never got to speak to her again after the argument. And I will blame Cingular till the day I die, that my mother and I had a horrible argument right before she died, and it is killing me day in and day out that we lost contact with each other, over a stupid cell phone bill, that was a rip-off from the very get go. I hate you Cingular and I swear to God if i could get a hold of the very person who created the fake, rip-off bill for $300 that caused the very argument my mother had with me, I can't say anymore without incriminating myself. All i can and will say is that cingular is the biggest rip-off cell phone company in the world... And that crap about carry-over minutes is a load of crap too. They don't give you your left over minutes. Believe me. This place sux to the max. Don't sign up with cingular. You will eventually regret it. Believe me. I have no reason to lie about a stupid cell phone company. There's way too many out there to set yourself up with one that can't stop from sending out bogus bills to hard-working people for a little more money. WITH THE BOGUS SELL PLAY "They are my minutes, so let me keep them!" - HA! What a freakin joke - cingular is nothing but lies, lies, lies, and more lies...
