To Whom It May Concern,
I have come across a fraudulent charge on my local phone bill. The charge is for a service call USA Voicemail
and appears on the phone bill as OAN Services. Supposedly the OAN does the billing service for USA and it is showing on my Verizon phone bill from the month of October. I have ordered no such service!
The number of phone companies mentioned in these letters number quite a few from Verizon, AT&T, SBC and more. I think it is important that you share this consumer alert news with your viewers on your nightly newscast so they aware of the problem out there.
I called a Verizon Representative about my bill and she said I didn't have to pay the extra $21.55 that this billing service called OAN put on my bill. She also told me that the corporate office would be told that I dispute the charges. There is a paragraph under this name of OAN on the phone bill stating that your service will NOT be disconnected if you refuse to pay for these charges.
I will tell you one of the writers stated that they were told by a representative that they had agreed to pay for this voicemail service when they agreed to take an online survey.
BEWARE! Too many people don't read the fine print and just click on 'I Agree' to get things in motion. Be it an online survey or setting up a software program. Read the fine print.
