HIDDEN AUTO RENEWAL CLAUSE Forced to pay for service not received

Bills, Bills, Bills, Bills, every month with past due charges.

FINALLY! A letter of April 15, stating Monitronics cannot resolve my DELINQUENT account and that my monitoring service will be ended (NO STRIKE THAT) terminated on April 23.

But wait, another notice on May 20, from Monitronics stating that they must receive payment by May 28 or the service will be terminated.

At last, a letter on June 3, confirming they finally got there stuff together and the service was ended on May 26.

Of course I could not confirm this cancellation of service since I no longer own the property as of September nor the alarm system they were some how suppose to be monitoring. How could they monitor an alarm system that did not have a phone line connected to it and the power sources had been disconnected and deactivated since September.

I did contact Monitronics August via telephone to cancel/stop the alarm service since I just signed a contract to sell my home and I would soon be moving. However, they told me I had to put the request in writing in order to stop the service. Oh! But wait, they sent the notice back to me and said I did not sign it, I guess my printed name, customer number, and personal security password was not enough. I did tell them to stop service as of September 30, and sent them a final payment.

I forgot to tell you and they did me that my alleged contract anniversary date was August 17. What contract? I did not sign a contract with Monitronics. Apparently there is a HIDDEN Auto Renewal Clause for one year. They said I should of sent a cancellation notice 60 days prior to this date. That would have been June and I did not know I would be moving nor did I have my home up for sale.

I was surprised to get a bill for October at my forwarding address. When I called to question it, they told me I would have to pay for another year. When I told them I was no longer living at the residence they said I still had to pay and wanted me to transfer the service to where I lived. I told them I was living in a two bedroom rental and would not pay to have a system installed. They told me I still had to pay. It does not matter to Monitronics if you were a valued customer for approximately 7 -8 years. It does not matter that you can not and are not receiving the alleged service.

I continued to receive bills and I called several times and was finally forwarded to a supervisor. When I asked for the name and address of the company president/owner to voice a complaint and alluded that I would be contacting the state attorney's office and the better business bureau they hung up on me.

Let me make my self perfectly clear. The balance of $190.63 they claim I owe will never be paid. This balance reflects service I never wanted and I had requested canceled.

Monitronics has since forwarded this claim to a dept collection agency and I have been receiving notices to pay. This alleged debt was recently reported the credit bureaus and placed on my credit. Up to this point my credit has be impeccable.

Tag I am it. Now it is my turn. I will be sending a Cease and Desist notice to CMI, credit management, Ip. I am contacting the better business bureau, the Oklahoma and Texas state attorney general's offices for consumer complaints.in addition, I will be contacting Bill Gephardt with 2 News at KUTV.com, Dailey Oklahoman, Dallas Morning News, Dallas Business Journal, complaints.com, and I have already submitted a copy to usacomplaints.com. I must give credit where credit is due. Your company is very well known on the internet. I was appalled by the number of similar type of complaints. It was easy for me to decide my next course of action.

I expect a letter to inform me that the account is settled.
