I searched for movers (mistakenly, online) for my MA to FL move in May. A Kevin Stern contacted ME from Moving Services and gave me a quote for my move. After emailing him back and forth for more information I asked him to do my move. I basically decided on them, because I inquired about their abililty to take apart a very expensive pool table and be able to reassable it at my new location. He was very adamant that they are very experienced and capable of doing so.
I never saw a website or was told or knew that they acted as brokers. So it was to my surprise that when 3 days before my move another company called me to say they were moving me and I needed to have my pool table taken apart. As a pregnant woman whose husband had already begun the trip to FL I obviously couldn't do it alone and last minute had to hire someone to come and do it the morning of the move which cost me $165.00. I asked that it be refunded to me which it was... That was the only thing they did right. BUT they wouldn't refund the $250.00 reassembly charge when I got to my new place.
Theses goons hired a very UNreputable company who had no idea how to speak English and they didn't bring tools to disassemble my furniture.
AND MOVING SERVICES ordered the wrong size truck based on THEIR assessment of the cubic feet of my belongings. SO consequently, alot of items couldn't fit into their truck. So at 11pm at night they told me this when I was supposed to be leaving that night.
They left many items and said they could "MAYBE" get another truck there in 5 DAYS! MAybe? All the power, phones, etc were being turned off. I was supposed to wait 5 days on a MAYBE?! I couldn't - especially seeing how these people work. SO I had no other choice than to have my father drive up with a huge trailer from FL by himself to get the rest of my belongings - such as an entire 12 pc. Patio set, Webber grill, 2 computers, 2 mattresses, Mosquito Magnet, weed wacker, wheel barrow, paintings, etc. The cost for him to have to drive up was over $800. The cost for me to have to store those items in a storage garage in FL (until I closed on my new house) was over $250.
I contacted the BBB, who was willing to do NOTHING! I tried to call and email MOVING SERVICES and no one would respond. FINALLY, I got a hold of this Kevin Stern guy who said that his boss said that I WAS indeed offered a truck (he wasn't there so he doesn't know what was told to me) and he said it's my fault I didn't accept it. WHICH IS NOT TRUE! They couldn't give me an answer on the truck when I told then I needed a definitive answer about it. It would've been so much easier if they had gotten another truck to come back out for the rest of my stuff! Why would I not do that?!
They lied to cover their butts and they lied to cover all their mistakes from the pool table to the hiring of these people to the misjudgement of cubic feet - when someone should of come out to estimate it from the start and they didn't. Their responses to complaints were always the same - as though they could care less. I REALLY suggest NO ONE EVER do business with them EVER.
This is a horrible company with horrible people and I am still in disgust with this aweful experience. PLEASE read all the complaints on this website that they have! Complain here, design your own website telling people about them, complain everywhere you can so no one goes through this!
THey owe me the $250 for the reassembly of the pool table, the over $800 for gas and hotel for my father having to go get the rest of my stuff, and the over $250 for my storage due to their lack of knowledge and correct business practices.
