They used deceptive tactics when getting me to sign up for a dating membership

On June 3 I signed up with Relationships of Atlanta. During the consultation Scott Woodward spoke about doing over 200 background checks and having over 5000 active members. He put great emphasis on those things and being a single mom I loved the idea of the credit checks because it gave me that peace of mind while dating in a new state. On a personal note Scott was a nice guy but being a nice guy doesnt always mean you can make good choices for every client and I feel like I fit into that situation.

On June 22 was the first available appointment for the photo shoot which was okay then I came home and looked at profiles and immediately I was very disappointed in the men I had to choose from. I searched black men first because that is my first choice, and then I searched white, Hispanic then other. Scott and I talked about how I am 45 but look much younger that my age group should be from 37 to about 48. The age of 48 was pushing it because I was looking for someone energetic, active and fun. Not only because that is how I am but also due to the fact that my kids are 6 and 9. During my search I didnt find not one person that blew me away but I said I would be open so originally on the 22nd I had searched hard to put 5 men in my queue 3 white and 2 black men. 3 weeks went by and nobody had responded to me so I called Scott and asked him to look at my profile because I was not getting any responses.

All the men I found myself attracted to were either someone that did not want to date African American or they were not open to dating someone with children. Quickly I found myself at a disadvantage and it wasnt something that was discussed during the consultation. I feel like I was sold on this idea that really does not exist. Several times now I have spoken with Scott and expressed my concerns and as he previously expressed to me it is a lifetime membership until marriage but I didnt pay $4170 to not get much of a response.initially I told Scott I like tall men and he said there are a lot of nice looking professional men, he used doctors and lawyers as examples.

About 1 month from today I called Scott and I told him that the men I first selected were no longer in my black book and I didnt understand he said they seem like they were all there. Proof is my photo shoot was on the 22nd and not one of the guys I selected from that date is still there because they never responded and therefor it has been longer than 30 which is what the time frame stated was acceptable in the contract. Also the other proof is 4 men have declined my offer since I have been a member and those guys dont show up as well. Some time has gone by now and I decided to go back to the website and see if they are deliberately taking them out and sure enough. The men I selected in July and August who didnt respond were taken out of my blackbook. So my faith in the companys abilities is slim to none. Just knowing they altered the black book to appear one way tells me they are deceptive. Scott said they cant change it but okay where are those other men, they didnt just delete themselves.

I paid $4170 for the opportunity to meet nice looking eligible bachelors who is looking for the same thing as I am. Scott had suggested that I cancel my other dating memberships which I did. I was a member of Blackpeoplemeet.com and Plenty of Fish but how is it the selection of men on a free site is better than something that I am paying for. I feel like they told me whatever it was going to take to get me to sign up when really Relationships of Atlanta has students, mechanics, loading dock employees, teachers, and Salesmen. A mans title is not everything but I was not thinking how I was being wasteful I saw it as a investment into my future.

I dont feel like my expectations are so unrealistic. Scott knew my expectations up front he reassured me of the clients they have to offer. He also knew I was a mom of two and black but at no point did he point out that it was gonna be harder for me due to reasons. It has been 4 months now and I can't seem to get any help. Im not looking for a Brad Pitt or Denzel Washington but I also dont want someone that I wouldn't date in real life if I saw them walking on the streets.

Looks are not everything but just because I am a single mom of 2 dont mean I want to settle for just anything. I still have standards and would rather be alone than to just end up with a guy because I needed to put something in my blackbook because relationships of atlanta said I should.

I expected a service within reason to be provided and I feel that they have failed to do this at this time. Maybe later the selection will get better but why should I have to wait a yr. Or so who knows when, when I already paid the money now. Scott said they are very selective with the members they allow to join but when I look at the members I dont see that at all.

I am not having a buyers remorse moment. I dont mind paying for things at all; however I do expect to receive the service I am paying for. I have tried contacting the Attorney General Office, and the Better Business Bureau without any resolution.
