In December I wrote an email to DirecTV because I could not qualify for service because my credit was destroyed from a car accident that left me disabled. A neighbor gave me a directv box and a directv dish that they purchased but no longer used. I was contacted by "Steve" a customer advocate. Steve told me that DirecTV was going to help me out since I had my own equipment. I told Steve that I was planning to move my 5th wheel trailer in a few months and would that cause any problems? He said it would not and that Directv does not charge customers to connect relocated equipment. He sent a serviceman out to connect my service.

I moved my trailer in July. I called DirecTV and they refused to reconnect my equipment without a $200 moving fee. I was stunned. I told them what "Steve" had told me and they basically called me a liar. I was upset, as a disabled person, I have 2 things, internet and TV in my 5th wheel. I tearfully told them I could not come up with the money and I will have to disconnect my service. At that time they told me that there is an early termination fee! I told them that I was not informed of an early termination fee and I was told my service would be reconnected at the new address without charge. The representative basically, again, told me I was a liar.

I always paid my Directv bill with my debit card issued for me to receive my Social Security benefit. I NEVER allow a company to keep my card numbers and I always make one time payments and enter my card number each time I pay, declining to leave my card number for future payments. Little did I know that DirecTV steals EVERYONE'S debit card numbers for future use! I woke up yesterday to discover they had charged my card over $500 and I have no money for rent and utilities this month!!! I called to find out what was going on and they LAUGHED at me and said that if I signed the ticket when the serviceman installed the service I gave them permission to keep any credit/debit card ever used to pay my bill!!!

I signed a ticket agreeing that the service was installed! NO ONE in their right mind would knowingly sign such a document giving a company permission to steal card numbers and money out of any account! This is OUTRAGEOUS! I filed with the card issuer an unauthorized charge and cancelled the card so they cannot take anymore money from the card they stole! The card issuer says that the investigation will take 30-120 days and I MAY not be able to recover the money they stole! This is not only FRAUD this is abuse of the disabled and will likely cause me to get an eviction notice and have my power turned off! I discovered today that there are THOUSANDS of reports online against Directv for this very same scam, yet no one has done anything about it!
