I recently discontinued my directv service due to unemployment. Directv informed me that if my final bill was'nt paid within fifteen days they would debit the account with the debit card on file. I went to my bank and cancelled my debit card and had a new one issued. I explained to directv that i would pay the bill when i found a new job. My final bill was $431.00.in the past when i was a little short on cash i would use my girlfriends debit card to pay directv.in oct. 2011 my girlfriend had a brainstem stroke and is permanently disabled. I'am still unemployed and we live off of her $865.00 a month disability check. Directv debited $431.00 from her november check and i called them and explained the situation and informed them that the account was in my name and my name only and asked them to credit the money back to my girlfriends account. They refused to do it and frankly they don't care about someones hardships. I begged directv not to charge me an early termination fee but they refused that also. Directv does not care about their customers! If you have a unique hardship directv should make an exception in terms of fees. If the debit card directv has on file does'nt match the name of the account holder it should be illegal for directv to debit that accunt. It amounts to theft. And by the way $431.00 will not make or break the billion dollar directv company!
