I received a letter on 9/21/04 from your rebate center, tracking ID:
534617285 that stated the UPC number I sent was not valid for this offer.

I called the center at about 5:00 A.M. On 8/22/04 Ca. Time. The number called was 1-888-826-4932.
The person I talked to said that the UPC I sent was wrong. I explained that I was told by some one from Verizon when I brought this to their attention that the UPC on the box never matched the on one on the rebate slip. (Note email below). She than said that they didn't receive a UPC and for to check out the box that the phone came in. I did and the lid with the UPC's had cut off by me when I sent in the rebate. She than asked if I had made a copy of the UPC's? I said I had but couldn't find the copy right now. (I found the copy last night). She said that they would need a copy of the UPC's. (Why if
it was the wrong one)?

I became angry and asked to speak to a supervisor. I talked to this so called supervisor who told me that they had received only one of the UPC's and I needed to resend a copy of the UPC's or I would be out of luck.

Today 9/23/04 I am sending a copy of a copy of the UPC's from the box that the phone came in. The UPC number is — .

I know that this is a ploy to either keep from paying the rebate on to delay paying the rebate.

Below are some of the problems that I have experienced in purchasing this phone.

I purchase the first phone on 8/8/04. It didn't work and I was told to send it back and a new one would be sent me. I was told that I would be charged and additional $146.61 and credited when Verizon received the bad phone.
I later was told that it would take 6 - 8 weeks to credit me, which means Verizon is using my money for two months because of their problem.

I sent the phone back the next day. When I talked to the person who told me to send the phone back I told her about the UPC on the box not matching the one on the rebate slip and she is the one who told me that they do but to make a copy. She implied that I might experience a problem with the rebate center.

The new phone came on 8/16/04 and would not activate. I called on 8/17/04 and after an hour or so the person was able to activate it. I asked her about the UPC's being different and was told the rebate slip was a form and
that I should not expect that to match, but to make a copy.

After all this the phone works, but I haven't received the credit for the first phone or the rebate. I purchased this phone for two reasons: first because of Verizon and the coverage and second because of the rebate.

I have contacted the FCC and the PUC and they have asked for all the details and names that I can come up with to be sent to them. I am not gathering those details.

I have never had a problem with Verizon before and I hope that what has happened to me is not Verizon company policy.
Sincerely,
Michael
