Wireless ripoff incorrect billing

Nextel is ripping people off.

Please help me. I have been trying to get this issue resolved for the past 3 months. NEXTEL is charging some of their customers for a promotion that was supposed to be free. They had a promotion for free Mobil to Mobil cell phone calls. My husband changed his service plan to the new promotion and we have been getting the incorrect phone bill ever since. His cell phone bill went from an average of $140-$160 per month to anywhere from $600 to over a $1000.00 per month.

The first time we got his phone bill, we contacted NEXTEL and we were told by NEXTEL that they were aware of the problem and that it would be corrected. They credited our account for the Mobil to Mobil cell minutes and told us to pay $145. The next bill came and we had the same problem. Once again we had to call and stay on the phone for over an hour before the issue was resolved. And now we just received another bill and this one is over $800.00.

Now NEXTEL is saying that they will not adjust the bill because the bill is valid. They are now saying that they do not a have a computer problem when all this time they had been saying that they had a problem and they would fix it. They are going to turn the phone off if we don't pay the full amount.

Just to show how bad Nextel's business practice is, I had an old account back in 2001 and that account was paid in full before I closed it. They just sent that account to a credit collections agency. When I asked for the account information, the information that they sent to me shows that the account was paid for and the only remaining balance was a $1.75 late fee that I was not even aware of.

So, now I have to deal with the collection agency to get this negative reporting off my credit. This is just a case of a BIG company thinking they can do whatever they want to the little people and get away with it.

I'm not just writing this for me, but I think that the public should be aware of things like this. Some people get their bill and they don't call NEXTEL. NEXTEL does not send out anything saying that their bill could be wrong, so if you just pay it, you end up paying for something that should be free. How many people are getting these kinds of bills and just paying it because they don't want any trouble from their mom, dad, and wife, what ever the case might be? I know a lot more of my husband's co-workers with the same phone bill problem, and every month, they are confronted with this situation.
