Setting pts up for failure

My daughter has been taking Suboxone since April of this year as prescribed by Dr D. She gets her script every 2 weeks on Fridays. Her script was originally picked up at the Wal Mart pharmacy in Mt Airy MD because she worked in that vicinity. She had the script moved closer to her home at the Eldersburg MD pharmacy and it has been recieved from there for several months. On 12-9-11 my daughter, who had called in her script, went to the Eldersburg Wal-Mart to pick up her 2 week supply and was told that they would not have the Suboxone until Tuesday, 12-13-11. Problem #1... Why was this critical drug allowed to run out and why wasn't she notified of this when the script was called in. Didn't the pharmacy staff have any indication of the necessity of this drug for a heroin addict? Did they really think it was feasible to not have her meds for 4 days? The pharmacy staff were very cavalier about what could be done to rectify this. They advised my daughter to call the Mt Airy Wal-Mart to have the script transferred there because they did have Suboxone. When she called Mt Airy, the pharmacy tech who I believe was named Cindy, got very nasty, saying that she cannot transfer this script because it had already been transferred once before. Now please, note, this script was from a completely different physician and had not been transferred before. My daughter continued to make her argument that she was being forced to make this transfer by Wal-Mart because of the Eldersburg store not having the needed med. The pharm tech continued to be argumentative, talking over my daughter, not acknowledging that Wal-Mart has set up this situation and continually maintaining that the script cannot be transferred. Ultimately, she said she would have to speak to the pharmacist and advised my daughter to call back. My daughter waited an hour and a half and called again. She began relaying the prior scenario and used the phrase " you Guys " The tech who I believe was Cindy again, interrupted her saying " I am not a guy" Problem #2... Are you kidding me? Who would interrupt a customer to make such an arrogant comment about a turn of phrase? My daughter then spoke to a tech or perhaps a pharmacist whose name I believe was Chuck who continued to argue that the script could not be transferred. Phone calls went back and forth with no one providing any indication that the script was going to be filled. It was late the next day when my daughter finally got her needed meds. Problem #3... The urgency and need of my daughter to get the meds that keep her clean and sober was disregarded. Was this because she is an addict? If this would have been a chemotheraputic or cardiac drug she would have needed, would she have been so disrespected? I think not. It was your pharmacy issue and the pt is the one who suffers
