We purchased a Guardsman policy when we bought our new leather recliners at NFM. The policy was for 5 years and supposedly covered everything. The first alarm should have been that they had nothing for you to read there at the store. We actually had to wait for the policy to be mailed to us a full 2 weeks later. That was 12/07. This last week we tried to file a claim for the 2 inch long unbinding of a seam on the front of the right unit. We followed all instructions and today received the letter saying it could not be honored because "the reported damage is not covered under the protection plan." When my wife called they told her to read the plan. All questions were met with the same answer. When she said we were reporting this to the attorney, they said the same thing. When I came home and read the letter and then the Protection Plan I understood that we were screwed. The amazingly small list under "What is Covered" is amended to say "Except what is stated in the "What is Not Covered" section." The "What is Not Covered" section makes up the bulk of the document and excludes almost any reason that you be able to make a claim. This is one of the few times I have ever been taken like this and I am really just writing this as a warning to others. Guardsman plans are almost entirely useless. Do Not Fall for this scam as we did.
