Unfair Business Practice Notice of Increase Late fees

This is a letter I have sent to the FTC about my report about Public Storage.

This is the second time I have written the agency about the billing practices of Public Storage, the national company supplying storage space to consumers. For two years in a row, I received a rate increase, never received a notice of it,
and even though the rent was sent and received on time, I was charged a $45 late charge for the amount of the rent increase.

This year, was more outrageous because they called me to tell me I would be getting a rate increase. I asked the gentleman I spoke to if I owed anything, and he told me no, because the increase was effective with the next billing.
Then, they called me again to tell me that I again was late because I did not pay the new rate from rate increase. When I called, the responses were a pack of lies.

I was convinced last year that this is part of their business plan to make additional money from usurious late fees imposed upon usurious rate increases without true notice. Now that it has occurred two times in a year, I am even
more convinced that this is the case.

I urge the agency to investigate Public Storage for this unfair and deceptive practice. I have also contacted a class action attorney in relation to this case, but I wanted to inform the agency again of this consumer fraud. I note also that I see a number of complaints about Public Storages practices on websites and blogs for consumers.
