I am writing to all of you to warn you not to buy a wall bed from Wall-Beds Alberta. His This my Mom's story. We bought from them and had the bed installed, November. It cost $3,630.00 for the bed and $800.00 for the mattress so it is an expensive proposition. It was slept in about three times then Mark, my son, came to live with us in March to now (he has moved into a mobile in Sherwood Park), so he slept in it for a year. A few weeks ago I suggested he turn the mattress as it
hadn't been turned since I bought it and as he was turning it sideways, the bed collapsed. We had Del Nagel, owner of Wall Beds
Alberta come out and he said the bed had been abused. He said I saw this once before with a 19 year old and it was abuse. I said he is 47 years old and is the only one who sleeps in it. He doesn't have a girl friend and is the only one. Although he said it would hold over 2000 lbs. And without a problem two people weighing 650 lbs. Would do fine. Mark is big and weighs 315 but that obviously should be O.K. He then brought his grandson out with him a 19 year old who works with his dad, Nagel's son, who did the installing. The know-it-all grandson said someone removed the screws. Now, why would anyone open up the bed and go inside and remove screws. The screws also were 3/4 inches and came out if you touched them. Much too small for their
requirement. Why would anyone who needs the bed to sleep in sabotage his own bed. How absurd is that.
He gave me a letter saying they would charge $1,000.00 to fix it. I said we did nothing to the bed and it was either poorly manufactured (they manufacture them themselves) or poorly put together and I would not pay such a ridiculous price when we did nothing to the darn bed.
As an aside, the finished bed also had a large scratch down the panel and I brought it immediately to the installers attention. They said it would be fixed. No one ever came out even though I called numerous times.
This guy besides being the biggest jerk I have ever met is also a crook. When he was leaving I said he could take the bed away I didn't want something so poorly made and he replied "I wouldn't do anything for you - get rid of it yourself".
Don't buy a wallbed anyway - they are far too expensive and I wish I would have bought a hide-a-bed instead. But, tell all your neighbors and friends not to buy from wall beds alberta.
