If ANYONE in the Jacksonville, FL area is looking for work, do NOT USE CUSTOM STAFFING!
I went in there three times over the last year as a result of someone getting my resume online via Monster. I don't even trust Monster.com anymore. So, basically what happened was the usual... Fill out the application, take standardized qualification tests, interview with the recruiter, yadda yadda yadda... And then and only then will they show you the jobs that are available.
Having worked in the finance industry since I graduated from high school and college, I thought possibly I could get my feet wet with a new company through CSI (ha ha... No joke... This is how they described themselves)... I had mentioned about a mortgage company opening to this recruiter, and she just looked at me and said, "I bet you'll do good in sales. Do you do telemarketing?" (bear in mind this was before the "Do Not Call" FTC controversy).
I stood back and said "no" and I had "no sales background." I asked her about the mortgage job and she just said "oh, we're mass recruiting for that company for jobs in their call center. You wouldn't be interested in that. You look like a sales guy." I felt like pulling her by her mini-skirted self and pointing out on my resume that I had a degree in Business Administration and Finance, not Sales and Marketing. I asked about other jobs, and apparently this telemarketing job was the only thing that was on this staffing agency's mind.
So whatever happened to the mortgage job? The mortgage company was bought out two weeks later and they packed their bags and moved to greener pastures in Atlanta!
I do not know if CSI is still in business here in Jacksonville... But my advice... Stay away from this agency... Unless you like to telemarket for $6.25 an hour!
Don't let the girls in their teeny-weeny minis and heels fool you either... No offense, ladies!!!
