I was contacted one day recently by a Blake Campbell from Winston Staffing. He found my resume on Monster.com and told me he had a position that I would be great for. He wanted to speak to me in more detail about my background, so I agreed to call him back around lunch and speak with him. Of course, he picked up the phone when I called - because he wanted all of my work/background information to see if he could place me at this company and get his nice little commission. I spoke with him at length, giving him my entire work history. He asked me to send my resume over in word format as soon as possible so he could submit it to the company. (The company was confidential he said - could only tell me who they were if they decided they wanted to interview me). I send my resume over to Blake within 15 minutes. He said he would call me back later in the day to discuss when I could interview.
No big surprise here. Blake the bottom feeder never called me back. Not after I left him a message, or sent him an email. He did respond to one of my emails stating that he would call me at a specific time. Of course, he didn't. He did not respond to any subsequent requests for communication.
This story is not an original one. I've been burned by recruiters before. I should have just hung up on this guy as soon as I heard his voice. But, we all hope that ONE of these scumbags recruiters will actually turn out to be, well, NOT a scumbag, and do what they are supposed to do - help us find new and better employment opportunities. I have met a few "decent" recruiters in my travels. But not many.
Anywy, I thought I'd post this in the hope that those of you NY area residents will do your research before forwarding all of your paperwork over to one of these shady, lowlife staffing/recruiters agencies. Winston Staffing is just another scumbag agency with high-school drop out, bottom scavengers for employees. Beware. Use a reputable agency.
P.S. - Please also note - technically, a staffing agency should not forward your resume/paperwork to ANY company, before they bring you into their office and meet you, interview you etc. Blake Campbell was more than willing to forward my resume over to a company for employment consideration, when he hadn't even met me or properly interviewed me.
