Our household goods were picked up April 27, we had given a $500. Deposit and when they arrived I was told that it would be another $1400. Before they would take the shipment.
My husband was further told that they needed a guarantee of $400. Cash tip (by the 3 movers). He felt robbed but paid it anyway. They gave us an estimate of $2000. Originally, we have paid $1900. Plus tip and they told me on the phone that it would be another $1400. They said they would deliver the following weekend, 5/1/04. When that didn't happen, calls were made (to voice mail). We were now told it wouldn't be delivered until the end of the next week.
This has continued every week so far. I became very concerned at the constant putting off and e mailed National threatening litigation, etc. Kay Ann Marshall replied that they weren't liable! Access Van Lines, the subcontractor, I am told has actually 30 days to deliver according the the Department of Transportation. Thirty days is up next Thursday, 5/27/04. So again I began to feel like at last I wouldn't be sleeping on a blow up mattress in an empty house.
Now however, after reading this site I am very afraid I being victimized. What can I do and who can I contact?
