I live in Hollywood CA 90004. Before living here i lived at the zip code 90012. (also LA) US postal service is absolutely atrocious over here. The only thing they deliver is mail in envelope. Any package over a few pounds is left on the truck and instead of attempting delivery they just leave a failure to deliver notice. Yesterday i was home all day waiting for a package. No one knocked on the door or rang the door bell all day. When i went to check the mail box, there was a failure to deliver notice.
I know for a fact that they did not attempt delivery. So today was supposed to be the day for "re-delivery" (as if they even tried to deliver the first time) Once again. I have been home all day and nothing has come. I fully expect to find another failure to deliver notice in my mailbox when i go to check later. This has happened EVERY SINGLE TIME i have a package coming. I have actually witnessed with my own eyes, the mail man walking up to the door, leaving the failure to deliver notice and then speed walking back to the truck without ever knocking the door or ringing the door bell. The package was not even in his hands because he knew d*mn well that he had no intention of actually doing his job and delivering it.
It is such an insane hassle to get them to deliver these packages. We usually have to call several times to get them to actually attempt delivery. The mail carriers are using these notices as away to not do their jobs while still covering their asses. I know that not all carriers are like this, but it seems like thats mostly what we get around here. Is it a wonder that theres talk of the US postal service shutting down? With service like this i can understand why.
I paid my fee for delivery. Why don't i ever get the service i paid for? USPS is a bit cheaper than the other options but totally not worth the hassle. It has become a last resort for me. P. S: when i lived in Massachusetts i never had this problem in my entire life. People i know in other areas of southern LA have said that they have no such problems so it seems to really come down to where you live.
