Beginning June. EMA Began 9 as agreed) deduction payments in order to eliminate a $21,015.44
debt which they promised to reduce to 7355.40 upon completion of the program.
Of the 5 Accounts to pay off 3 were in good standing, 1 account (Sallie Mae) the largest of the account was overdue by 60 days.
I did what was asked. As the customer I was asked to send letters to all of the creditors involved letting them know that EMA was now in charge of my debt management.
EMA promised that the collection calls would stop once i sent the paperwork in. This did not happen.
I kept calling EMA once I continued receiving the collection calls from Sallie Mae, they kept assuring me that these things take time and they were working on my case.
Things finally came to a head when I received a letter from Sallie Mae saying my account was in default and would now be NY State Higher Education, who has the ability to garnish my income to retrieve their monies.
EMA collected money from me for a year 13months and has never, according to Sallie Mae contacted them regarding a settlement of my debt within that time.
When I asked for a refund EMA claimed that of the 4,353.88 they collected from me, my refund is $171.00 Everything else is their fee.
