I decided to leave Broward County and planned to move to North Florida before March for a new start in life. I contacted a moving company at the beginning of February (Global Moving Network) who promised to take care of my move for about $1300.00. I contacted again a couple weeks later to get an estimate for moving and packing all my belongings, which they gave me an estimate of $1594.59 and NO hidden charges.
I set up a pick up date with them on February 19th which they never showed up. When I contacted the driver they said they were backed up and apologized for the delay. I told them I had made this appointment at the beginning of February so I wouldn't run into this problem and expected them to be at my residence the next day, Friday the 20th at 8:30 in the morning.
They agreed. They showed up at 8:45am and it took all day for 3 people to pack up the rest of my belonging and load the truck, which they had to go drop off some of my belongings and come back to get the rest. They showed up at my house with a truck that had about less then a quarter filled with someone elses stuff. If they had an empty truck all of my belongings would have fit, but needless to say they left and came back abou 2 1/2 hours later.
They never finished until around 11:30pm Friday evening. When they returned they informed me that the weight of the truck was alot heavier then the estimate and it was going to cost me around $5600.00. Which the estimate was only $1594.59.
I sent them a deposit of $500.00 a couple of weeks before the scheduled pick up and they insisted that I would have to pay the balance at the time of delivery in the form of cashiers check.
I left on Saturday, February 21 for North Florida with the understanding that they would be delivering my belongings on Monday, February 23 to a storage unit that I arranged. February 23 came and went, no truck. I contacted them and was given a run around in regards to the final payment. I ended up driving an hour out of my way to wire the balance.
Once they received the money I was told they would be there Tuesday, Wednesday the latest. Well Tuesday came, no truck, Wednesday came, no truck. I called them again and I was told they had problems with the truck and would definatly be there Thursday without a doubt. Thursday came and went, no truck. I called again on Friday and had to leave a message on the drivers phone which he never returned my call.
On Monday morning March 8th I called the company again to find that all the telephone numbers I had to contact them had been disconnected. I am unable to find my belongings, they have my money and I am afraid that everything I have worked so hard to obtain is now gone. I have contacted the Sheriff's Dept. And the State of FL Consumer Affairs. I have learned that Global Moving Network has been evicted from their Dania Beach Office and has moved to North Miami. I have been in contact with an attorney about my situation.
Their my personal belongings what could they possibly want with it. There is alot of sentiment contained in those boxes that they have, my pictures, books, childhood memories. I want my stuff and now I want to be reimbursed. This company has NO ethics or care, about people and whats important to them. Although they don't admit to that. I have been through enough and don't deserve to be treated in this manner.
