Westwind School Of Aeronautics
Watch out for false promises Rip off

First of all, thanx to whoever made this website so that one can at least listen to us if these ripoff companies wont.

Heres how it all started. I have a big passion about flying ever since my young age. I currently live in Canada
so decided to start my training at a local fbo round the block. Unfortunatly aviation industry is not as big here in Canada as it is in the USA. AC rental cost is higher and instruction is poor. Nonetheless, I got westwind school recommended by this us airways captain that i checked in at the hotel i used to work for.

So i did my homework and email the school. Wow... I was damn impressed the fact they called me the next day and provided with enough info... I thought I was hired by Cathay PAcific... Its all business... I sometimes think if that lady (i wont mention her name) got a degree in business bullshit scam with excellence. Make sense?

Got all my paper work done as an international student studying abroad. And started my training with WW.
What I look into a school is mainly instructors cuz thats the person you will be dealing most of your time and you have to get this connection going... Anyhow, they emerse into a dream where you think youll be flying with the airlines upon completion of your program...

They quoted me 15000$ for ppl.including housing... For 3mo. But down the road you receive enough pressure from instructor or So called check airman that you fail and pay extra to re-do your lesson.
Thats how they make money. I mean anyone who attended this facility agrees that the program is taylored in a way that you can aim for success but they will drain your pockets without mercy.

I was told to purchase the cessna kit for 350$ where your instructor will monitor wether or not youve been watching the vids and doing your homework. Thats bullshit i never made use of the videos nor has my instructor mentioned anything about me not up to date.

Instructors dont know much, as Im a person who asks alota questions but you tend to get different answer that are unrelated and sometimes they dont know it. Come on, where is the professionalism.
Heres an example: i was asked to study about lateral stability. Simple words it has to do with dihedral and lower wing meets air at high aoa. Bringing it back up. Guess what, my instructor wouldnt agree and told me he never heard about such thing. I was Freaking surprised as it was written in phak and king school videos. There was a new trained instructor who knew what i was talking about present when i was explaining it to him...

THEN AFTER 3 MONTHS, MY ACCOUNT WAS draining, i advised the school that I couldnt afford to train with you anymore and that I had to leave to canada. They didnt feel sorry, in fact they f*ed me up with the FEDS. Everytime Cross the borders they think of me as threat or something. As it is part of FAR TSA security to report any alien student who hasnt completed their program to be reported. I agree with those protocols but you couldve mentioned also that you screwed me up with ignorant instructors (some) and bad personalities. NOT friendly at all. Anyhow completed my ppl in miami and im happy to pursue my education hopefully with chandler air services. But i will get more reviews on chandler air services before attending. Sick and tired of moneymakers out our hard earned bucks.

Last word.: sometimes its a not a bad Idea to check out small school or even independant instructors, they can save you lot more and youll end up with good training as the focus inst-student is vaste.

Check out JAcky Withford at deer valley airport.independant CFII with multi and does a good job. She has a piper 28-181 2003 leather seats, gps 430 n 530. Great personality and knowledgable.
