Phlebotomy Training Specialists & The I.V. Training Center, Brian Treu
Phlebotomy Training Specialist, Utah Phlebotomy Taining Specialist School that FALSELY ADVERTIZES won't refund my tuition

After comparing Phlebotomy Schools I decided to attend Phlebotomy Training Specialists. After the first few days of class I realized that the school was guilty of false advertising because they stated that 2 instructors with a combined 35 yrs experience teach the course; this is not true.

One of the owner's which is one of the advertised instructors showed up only 24% of the time while the difference (up to when I left) was taught by a 1 yr experienced graduate from the same class, and a 3 yrs experienced graduate from the same class; the other advertised instructor never taught nor has any connection with the company. The class was extremely unorganized and unprofessional and the instructors almost always showed up late while the students had to wait outside of the classroom.

After a few days the students all realized they were having the same concerns; most of them started talking about them, also asking the instructors about certain aspects of the class but never being able to receive a definite answer. On the 7th day of class, one of the students face turned white, her lips purple, sweating profusely, and she lost her sight. The instructor at the time immediately called 911 and the ambulance came.

The other instructor in the class, called the owner of the school and notified him of the situation and claimed that the instructor who called 911 was over-reacting and the student was only dehydrated and 911 should not have been called. The owner of the school called the instructor who called 911 and chastised her for doing so. Because of this, that instructor quit. So just to let future students know, that the remaining instructor and the owner does not value the safety and lives of the students and would not have called 911 if you lost your vision, turned white, and had massive cold sweats and was completely short of breath.

After this occurred I spoke to a few students and the caring instructor about what happened, and also about the concerns for the school. The former instructor told us the truth about the school and the owner... Which I shall leave out at this time. I told the students that I just want my money back and I am going to write a letter requesting my money back. The instructor said she would do the same. Another student I was with told me to make it into a form letter, so that other students, if they agreed or wanted to get their money back, and had the time to retake a different class&could sign the letter and get their money back as well.

The next time class was all the students accept for 2, were sitting outside of class and were discussing the false advertising, the lack of organization, and the unprofessionalism or the class; I asked all of them what they thought and it was unanimous at that time that students felt ripped off and wanted their money back but think it was too late to ask for a refund or they don't have time to go anywhere else. They asked me for the letter I wrote and wanted to see it. Finally I gave them the letter, and also I gave a letter I signed to the instructor to give to the owner of the school. I then left.

Only one other student signed the letter. That student and myself, plus the former instructor that quit were speaking to one another on a regular basis about the course of action we should take. The instructor told me that she would do anything to help me and the other student to get our money back and if needed to even testify against the school and it's owner; however she did say that she was afraid and scared of the owner of the school because of his influence in the industry and what he can do to her. She told me she would document everything she's seen and heard in the school and of the owner and would forward me the same.

That was the last I heard from her; I never received what she said she'd sent me. Also the student in which I was going forward with legally, and said she would contact me and keep in touch, etc... I also have not heard from her again. Prior to them not contacting me never again, the owner called me and confirmed that he received the letter I wrote. He gave me an ultimatum... Either I come back to class and pretend nothing happened or he will furnish me the information to file a complaint with the state and he'll see me in court and it'll be dragged out for 6 months and it will cost me. He told me that he will sue me for slander and defamation of character and coercion. Since then he has sent me two emails with the complaint form attached to fill out and send in. He has also sent me an email accusing me of harassing his instructor and never to contact any instructors or students of that school.

I have asked him a total of 5 times to send the refund of my tuition plus expenses of which he has not.in the letter I laid out the laws which he broke. He told me in the one and only conversation we had, that he would have refunded what I asked if I had not distributed the letter to the students. Anyway, the fact that he has shut up the only two people that were speaking with me about taking action against him, the fact he keeps sending me the complaint form in which he says if I send in he will "see me in court, " and the fact that he said "I just want to make you happy, you name it, what do you want" and I told him I want my refund but hasn't given it to me... All this is a witness of the obvious person he is and his mode of operations of his school. Anyway, this is the less-than-simplified version of my experience with Phlebotomy Training Specialist and it's owner Brian Treu. He calls me a disgruntled student... I wonder why.
