Prepaid Visa bought with $300 cash could not be activated

I purchased a prepaid Visa with $300 cash for online use. The card could not be activated, and Green Dot says my money will be refunded by check in 7-10 days. I do not believe I will ever see my money again after discovering this website and the countless fraud warnings posted about Green Dot. I am so angry. Why is everything in this world a scam in which we are defenseless?
