GO2bank: how to reach it, dispute a charge, fix a blocked account, close an account and where to complain (checked October 18, 2026)

This page was compiled from GO2bank's own help pages and Deposit Account Agreement, FDIC data, a Federal Reserve order, SEC filings, and BBB, Trustpilot, CFPB and App Store listings opened on October 18, 2026. This site's archive has no post naming GO2bank itself; older Green Dot prepaid-card posts are described in the complaint record below, and the page does not rely on reader complaints.

Who you are dealing with. GO2bank's home page says its cards are issued by Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC, and its About page calls GO2bank 'a mobile banking product of Green Dot Corporation and a tradename of Green Dot Bank.' The Deposit Account Agreement says Green Dot Bank is the bank that holds the money in the account and also operates as GoBank, Green Dot Bank and Bonneville Bank. Check which entity a letter or agreement names before relying on any statement.

Contact. GO2bank's Contact us page lists Customer Support at (855) 459-1334 and chat, both stated as available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and a mailing address of GO2bank, P.O. Box 1070, West Chester, OH 45071.

Disputing a charge or reporting an error. The help article says that if you believe there is an error or unauthorized charge, or your statement or sales receipt is wrong, you should call (855) 459-1334 or fill out a Dispute form and send it to GO2bank, Attn: Disputes, P.O. Box 9, West Chester, OH 45071, and that a pending transaction must post before a dispute can be filed. It asks for your name and account number, the last four digits of the card, the amount and date, the merchant's name and address and the reason, and lists helpful documents such as receipts, shipping and tracking information, messages with the merchant and written requests to cancel. The Deposit Account Agreement (Rev. Aug. 2025) says to tell the bank no later than 60 days after it sent the first statement showing the problem. It says the bank will determine whether an error occurred within 10 business days, may take up to 45 days if it gives a provisional credit within 10 business days, and may take up to 90 days for errors involving new accounts, point-of-sale transactions or foreign-initiated transactions (for new accounts, up to 20 business days to give provisional credit). It also says that if you tell the bank orally it may require your complaint in writing within 10 business days, and that without that writing it may not give a provisional credit. Keep copies of everything you send.

Direct deposit that has not arrived. GO2bank's help article says a missing deposit means the bank has not yet received payment instructions from the employer or benefits provider, that early-deposit timing depends on the payor and that fraud-prevention restrictions may apply. It tells customers to make sure the name and Social Security number on file with the payor match the GO2bank account, ask the employer for the TRACE number, and then call or chat; for federal benefits it points to the paying agency.

Blocked or restricted account. The help article 'How do I unblock my account?' says GO2bank monitors accounts for high-risk activity, that it is unable to disclose the factors used, that monitoring may result in closure or a temporary restriction or block of card functionality until it completes steps to verify the activity or your identity, and that you should log in or contact Customer Support for the steps to remove a restriction, unblock an account or request a refund check on a closed account. Green Dot's quarterly report for the period ended June 30, 2026 states, in the company's own words, that it has 'implemented risk control mechanisms that have made it more difficult for all customers, including legitimate customers, to obtain and use our products and services,' and that these 'may continue to negatively impact our new account and card activations for the foreseeable future.'

Closing the account. The Deposit Account Agreement (section 15.u) says the bank may close an account with a zero or negative balance and may terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. If funds remain it may send a check to the last address on file or return the balance by another method it selects, and it reserves the right not to return an unused balance under $1.00. Section 15.v.ii of the agreement (Cardless Funds Access Service) describes an 'Account Closure Cash Pick-Up' at Walmart or another participating retailer, at the bank's discretion, with a stated minimum of $20 and maximum of $2,999.99 and a fee of up to $5.00. Under section 15.v.i the service is available only if the account is open and in 'good standing,' which the agreement defines as 'not blocked or suspended for fraud or any other reason.' The agreement text read for this page does not set out a separate numbered procedure for a customer to request closure, so use Customer Support or the app and keep a written record.

Fees to check before opening. GO2bank's fee page says the monthly fee is $0 when a payroll or government-benefits direct deposit was received in the previous statement period and $5 otherwise; cash deposits carry a retail service fee of up to $4.95; out-of-network ATM withdrawals cost $3; foreign transactions carry a 3 percent fee; and buying a starter card at a retail store costs up to $2.95 plus an initial deposit of $20 to $500; expedited delivery of a replacement debit or secured credit card is $24.95; transfers from a linked debit card cost 3 percent of the amount (minimum $2.00); and instant funding of a checked deposit costs 1 percent of an approved preprinted payroll or government check and 5 percent of other eligible check types, with a $5.00 minimum per check. The Deposit Account Agreement's fee table adds $0.50 per out-of-network ATM balance inquiry and $3.00 per teller cash withdrawal. For overdraft protection the page says $0 for coverage up to $10 and, for additional coverage up to $300, a $15 fee may apply to each purchase transaction not repaid within 24 hours; the overdraft notice says only debit card purchase transactions are eligible, that opt-in is required and that overdrafts are paid at the bank's discretion. The home page's savings-rate statement is dated December 2024, so confirm the current rate in the app.

Where to complain outside the company. The CFPB's complaint database page shows a Submit a Complaint link and the number (855) 411-2372. Federal Reserve Consumer Help has a File a Complaint form (FR 1379c) that says a complaint will be reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate regulator, and that regulators 'do not have jurisdiction to directly award damages, settle fee disputes, or act as your attorney or expert witness.' The Federal Reserve is the supervisor named in the 2024 order described below.

GO2bank regulators: the July 2024 Federal Reserve consent order against Green Dot Bank and Green Dot Corporation, and the sources checked on October 18, 2026

Federal Reserve order of July 19, 2024. The Board of Governors issued a combined Order to Cease and Desist and Order of Assessment of a Civil Money Penalty, issued upon consent, against Green Dot Bank (Provo, Utah) and Green Dot Corporation (listed in the order as Austin, Texas) in Docket Nos. 24-005-B-SM, 24-005-B-HC, 24-005-CMP-SM and 24-005-CMP-HC. The order says it was entered without the Bank and the Holding Company admitting or denying any allegation made or implied by the Board.

The order recites findings from a Federal Reserve review of general purpose reloadable (GPR) prepaid debit card accounts and a tax return preparation payment service offered with a third party:

  • From November 2017 through January 2021, a deceptive practice: card packaging, cardholder agreements and online disclosures said accounts would be closed once balances reached zero, when many remained open and kept incurring monthly fees.
  • From June 2019 through December 2020, a deceptive practice: packaging and advertising said cards could be registered by telephone or online, when only online registration was available.
  • From May 2020 through June 2020, an unfair practice: no reasonable policies for legitimate customers to cure account blocks on accounts receiving Washington state unemployment benefits.
  • From August 2020 through at least September 2020, an unfair practice: a third-party processor's data migration error left extended authorization holds unreleased for several days after settlement.
  • From January 2017 through December 2022, a deceptive practice by Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, a wholly owned nonbank subsidiary: the full cost of the tax refund processing fee was not clearly and conspicuously disclosed on a major tax preparer's website.

The order also recites deficiencies in consumer compliance risk management and in Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering compliance. It requires, among other things, a revised BSA/AML compliance program, an independent third-party transaction review, an independent consultant and a Consumer Compliance Risk Management Plan that addresses the root causes of consumer complaints, and it assesses a civil money penalty of $44,000,000 payable upon execution of the order. It states that its provisions stay in effect until stayed, modified, terminated or suspended in writing by the Board.

Scope. The recited findings concern prepaid card and tax-refund products and the periods stated; the order text read for this page does not name GO2bank or GoBank. Because Green Dot Bank is the issuer of GO2bank accounts and the order's requirements apply to Green Dot's consumer products and services generally, readers can reasonably want to know about it, but the order does not state that any GO2bank account was affected.

Current status. Green Dot Corporation's quarterly report for the period ended June 30, 2026 (filed August 10, 2026) still refers to this order as the 'Consent Order' and says it expects heightened oversight to continue for the foreseeable future. The Federal Reserve press release and order and that quarterly report, which were the sources read for this page, do not report a termination of the order.

Other sources checked on October 18, 2026. A search of the CFPB's enforcement actions page for 'green dot' returned no results. A search of the CFPB public complaint database returned no matches (details in the complaint record). The FDIC's institution data list Green Dot Bank DBA Bonneville Bank (certificate 22653) as active, with the Federal Reserve as its regulator and 'GREEN DOT CORP' as its holding company. A Justia dockets party search for 'Go2Bank' on October 18, 2026 listed 8 federal cases. Two examples, by caption only: Craig v. Green Dot Bank, No. 2:2025cv14091 (E.D. Mich., filed December 18, 2025), where the defendant is listed as Green Dot Bank doing business as Go2Bank and the cause of action as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681); and Holman v. Go2Bank Company et al., No. 2:2026cv02075 (E.D. Cal., filed June 4, 2026), listed as a prisoner civil-rights case. These are allegations in filings, and their outcomes were not checked. State regulators' enforcement databases, the FTC's case list and CourtListener were not searched or could not be checked for this page.

Green Dot Bank and Green Dot Corporation: who stands behind GO2bank, and the pending 2026 transaction

Operator and parent. The Deposit Account Agreement and the FDIC data identify Green Dot Bank as the issuing bank, and the FDIC data list Green Dot Corporation as its holding company. In its annual report filed March 16, 2026 (a 10-K/A was filed April 30, 2026 and was not read), Green Dot Corporation describes GO2bank as 'a leading digital and mobile bank account' and its flagship consumer deposit product. Its quarterly report filed August 10, 2026 says it was incorporated in Delaware in 1999, became a bank holding company, and that Green Dot Bank became a member bank of the Federal Reserve System in December 2011. Its June 2026 Form 8-K lists its principal executive offices in Provo, Utah. Per the footer of GO2bank's site, Green Dot Corporation's NMLS number is 914924 and Green Dot Bank's is 908739.

How the product works, per the company. The company says GO2bank offers a Visa debit card and deposit account, a savings account, opt-in overdraft protection for debit card purchases, early direct deposit that 'depends on payor type, timing, payment instructions, and bank fraud prevention measures', cash deposits at retail locations, check cashing provided by Ingo Money, Inc., and a GO2bank Secured Visa credit card. Apple's App Store lists the app 'GO2bank: Mobile banking' under the seller name Green Dot Corporation, with an initial release date of November 19, 2020.

Pending 2026 transaction. Green Dot's filings say that on November 23, 2025 it signed a merger agreement with CommerceOne Financial Corporation and a separation agreement under which Green Dot Bank's stock would go to a CommerceOne subsidiary and, under the terms described in the quarterly report filed August 10, 2026, Green Dot Corporation would convert into a limited liability company, distribute the stock of Green Dot Bank to a CommerceOne subsidiary, and be acquired by a buyer entity (Green Dot OpCo, LLC, an affiliate of Smith Ventures) together with its non-bank financial technology and related assets and operations for $690 million. In other words, the filings describe Green Dot Corporation itself, not only a business unit, going to the Smith Ventures affiliate, while the bank's stock goes to CommerceOne. GO2bank's own About page says 'GO2bank is a mobile banking product of Green Dot Corporation and a tradename of Green Dot Bank,' so the two could end up with different owners. The Form 8-K for June 23, 2026 says stockholders approved both proposals and that the companies expected to complete the transaction in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. The third quarter of 2026 has ended, and no completion or updated timing was found in the sources checked on October 18, 2026. The quarterly report filed August 10, 2026 says closing remained subject to regulatory approvals. The filing list for Green Dot on EDGAR, as read on October 18, 2026, showed no later filing announcing completion (the newest was an October 14, 2026 Form 8-K reporting the General Counsel's resignation effective November 2, 2026). The filings read for this page do not say which party will operate the GO2bank brand after any closing, so check GO2bank's own notices and agreements for the entity named.

What BBB, Trustpilot, the CFPB database, the App Store and this site's archive show for GO2bank (as displayed October 18, 2026)

BBB. BBB's listing 'Go2 Bank' (Cincinnati, OH) shows an F rating and states the business is not BBB Accredited. BBB's stated reasons are 'Failure to respond to 447 complaint(s) filed against business' and '296 complaint(s) filed against business that were not resolved.' The complaints tab says 3,728 total complaints in the last 3 years and 811 filed in the last 12 months. The reviews tab shows 1.07 out of 5, an average of 438 customer reviews. BBB's page data shows a file opened on March 12, 2023. The listing's alternate names include Green Dot Corporation, Apple Pay, Apple Cash, Apple Wallet and Walmart Money Card, and BBB's note on the page describes Green Dot's other card programs, so these counts are not limited to GO2bank accounts. BBB's search also showed listings titled Green Dot Corporation (Pasadena, CA) and Green Dot Online (San Diego, CA); those were not opened and are not combined here.

Trustpilot. The page for go2bank.com shows 1.2 out of 5 from 483 reviews, 61 of them in the last 12 months, with 94 percent of reviews at one star and 2 percent at five stars, and an 'Unclaimed profile' label. Trustpilot says it does not fact-check reviews.

CFPB complaint database. A search of all fields for 'GO2bank' and a search of the company-name field for 'green dot', each over all dates through October 18, 2026, returned no matches in a database that displayed more than 18.5 million complaints. The same database's search interface returned results for a comparison query (29,596 for 'Chime' in all fields), so the zero counts are not a failure to load; searches for 'Green Dot Bank' and 'GoBank' in all fields also returned none. The CFPB site's public search page may not display results to every visitor, so repeat the search yourself. A search with no results is not a statement that the CFPB would decline a complaint about a financial product; see the complaint routes above.

Apple App Store. Apple's listing data show an average rating of 4.77 from 64,439 ratings for the current version of the iOS app (version 3.2.2, released September 24, 2026). App-store ratings, BBB and Trustpilot measure different things and are reported separately; they are not averaged or combined.

This site's archive. No approved post names GO2bank itself: the GO2bank app was released in November 2020 and the archive's posts are older. The page links 49 approved posts from 2009 to 2017 about earlier Green Dot-branded prepaid cards (Green Dot cards, MoneyPak and Walmart MoneyCard accounts), because Green Dot Bank, the bank behind GO2bank, also issues those cards: 48 are linked as complaints about Green Dot and one as related. They describe blocked or frozen cards, deposits held, fees, MoneyPak loads not credited and refunds not paid. They are unverified consumer accounts, all at least 9 years old, and they concern earlier products, not GO2bank accounts.

Court filings involving Green Dot (checked October 18, 2026)

Securities class action. Green Dot's quarterly report for the period ended June 30, 2026 describes Koffsmon v. Green Dot Corp., et al., No. 19-cv-10701-DDP-E (C.D. Cal.), filed December 18, 2019 against the company and two former officers under Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act, on behalf of purchasers of its securities between May 9, 2018 and November 7, 2019. It says the defendants' motion to dismiss was denied on March 29, 2024, that the parties jointly filed a notice of settlement on September 18, 2025, that a motion for preliminary approval was filed on October 17, 2025 and is under submission, and that the company expects to pay $40.0 million, funded from available insurance coverage, subject to final documentation and court approval. This is a shareholder case, not a case brought by GO2bank customers. The report also lists shareholder derivative actions that are stayed.

Individual customer suits. Justia's docket search for the party names 'Green Dot Bank' and 'Green Dot Corporation' on October 18, 2026 listed individually captioned federal cases filed in 2025 and 2026 in several districts, including one captioned against 'Go2Bank Company'. The claims in those dockets were not reviewed for this page, so none is described here, and an allegation in a complaint is not a finding.

Arbitration. The Deposit Account Agreement's section 16 says disputes relating to the card or account are decided by binding arbitration if either party elects it, administered by the American Arbitration Association, on an individual basis only, with class and representative proceedings barred, that the bank advances arbitration fees, and that the bank agrees not to invoke arbitration for an individual claim pending in small claims court. The text read contains no procedure for opting out of arbitration. This affects where a customer's own claim can be heard; read the agreement version you accepted.

Is GO2bank Legitimate?

The FDIC's institution data list Green Dot Bank DBA Bonneville Bank (certificate 22653, Provo, Utah) as an active institution regulated by the Federal Reserve, and GO2bank's own agreement and About page state that GO2bank is a trade name of Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC.

The documented record in the sources checked includes a July 2024 Federal Reserve consent order with a $44,000,000 civil money penalty against Green Dot Bank and Green Dot Corporation concerning prepaid card and tax-refund products, an F rating and 1.07 out of 5 in customer reviews on a BBB listing that also covers other Green Dot programs, a Trustpilot page at 1.2 out of 5 from 483 reviews, and an App Store rating of 4.77 from 64,439 ratings. Those sources measure different things and are not combined. The company says GO2bank offers early direct deposit, overdraft protection and a secured credit card; the terms and fees for each are in the agreements linked in this profile. No ruling on whether any GO2bank practice violated a law was identified in the sources checked on October 18, 2026.

Docket 19-cv-10701-DDP-E
U.S. District Court, C.D. Cal.FiledFiled — no final outcome recorded

A purported class action under Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act over alleged misleading statements about Green Dot's customer acquisition strategy, on behalf of purchasers of its securities between May 9, 2018 and November 7, 2019. Frequently Asked Questions

What phone number and support channels does GO2bank list?

GO2bank's Contact us page (opened October 18, 2026) lists Customer Support at (855) 459-1334 and chat, both stated as available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and a mailing address of GO2bank, P.O. Box 1070, West Chester, OH 45071. Disputes by mail go to GO2bank, Attn: Disputes, P.O. Box 9, West Chester, OH 45071.

How long does a GO2bank customer have to report an unauthorized or incorrect transaction?

The Deposit Account Agreement (Rev. Aug. 2025) says the bank must hear from the customer no later than 60 days after it sent the first statement on which the problem appeared. It says the bank will determine whether an error occurred within 10 business days, may take up to 45 days if it provides a provisional credit within 10 business days, and may take up to 90 days for new accounts, point-of-sale transactions and foreign-initiated transactions. GO2bank's help article says a pending transaction must post before a dispute can be filed.

What does GO2bank say about a blocked or restricted account?

GO2bank's help article says it monitors accounts for high-risk activity, cannot disclose the factors used, and that monitoring may result in closure or a temporary restriction or block of card functionality until it verifies the activity or the customer's identity. It tells customers to log in or contact Customer Support for the steps to remove a restriction, unblock an account or request a refund check on a closed account.

How is a GO2bank account closed and how does the money come back?

Section 15.u of the Deposit Account Agreement says the bank may close an account with a zero or negative balance and may terminate the relationship at any time with or without cause or notice, and that remaining funds may be sent by check to the last address on file or returned by another method it selects. Section 15.v.ii describes a discretionary Account Closure Cash Pick-Up at Walmart or another participating retailer with a $20 minimum, a $2,999.99 maximum and a fee of up to $5.00; under section 15.v.i it is available only while the account is open and not 'blocked or suspended for fraud or any other reason.' The agreement text read does not give a separate numbered customer closure procedure; the help article on blocked or closed accounts points customers to Customer Support for a refund check on a closed account.

What are GO2bank's monthly fee and overdraft terms?

GO2bank's fee page says the monthly fee is $0 when a payroll or government-benefits direct deposit was received in the previous statement period and $5 otherwise. For opt-in overdraft protection it says $0 for coverage up to $10 and, for additional coverage up to $300, a $15 fee may apply to each purchase transaction not repaid within 24 hours of authorization of the first transaction that overdraws the account. The overdraft notice (Rev. Oct. 2024) says only debit card purchase transactions are eligible and overdrafts are paid at the bank's discretion.

Does the GO2bank agreement require arbitration?

Section 16 of the Deposit Account Agreement (Rev. Aug. 2025) says claims relating to the card or account are decided by binding arbitration if either party elects it, administered by the American Arbitration Association, on an individual basis only and not as a class or representative action, with the bank advancing the arbitration fees. It says the bank agrees not to invoke arbitration for an individual claim pending in small claims court. The text read contains no procedure for opting out.

Does the 2024 Federal Reserve order against Green Dot name GO2bank?

The order text (Docket Nos. 24-005-B-SM and related, July 19, 2024) does not contain the names GO2bank or GoBank. Its recited findings concern general purpose reloadable prepaid debit card accounts and a tax return preparation payment service, with periods between January 2017 and December 2022, and it assesses a $44,000,000 civil money penalty on consent without the bank or holding company admitting or denying the Board's allegations.

Is GO2bank changing hands in 2026?

Green Dot's Form 8-K for June 23, 2026 says stockholders approved a merger with CommerceOne Financial Corporation and a separation agreement under which Green Dot Bank's stock would be distributed to a CommerceOne subsidiary and Green Dot OpCo, LLC (a Smith Ventures affiliate) would acquire Green Dot Corporation, converted to a limited liability company, with its non-bank business (per the August 10, 2026 quarterly report), with completion expected in the third quarter of 2026 subject to regulatory approvals. That quarter has ended; the filing list on EDGAR read on October 18, 2026 showed no filing announcing completion and Green Dot's news-release page showed no updated timing, and the filings read do not say which party will operate GO2bank afterward.

Where can a customer complain outside GO2bank?

The CFPB's complaint database page shows a Submit a Complaint link and the number (855) 411-2372. Federal Reserve Consumer Help has a File a Complaint form (FR 1379c) that says complaints are reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate regulator, and that regulators 'do not have jurisdiction to directly award damages, settle fee disputes, or act as your attorney or expert witness.' BBB also accepts complaints; its listing for Go2 Bank shows an F rating as displayed on October 18, 2026.
