Ripoff of MORE money for cable bill

Well, here I am, once again, writing into your site complaining of yet more ripoff tactics. My last entry had this company demanding that, not only I make a payment of what I had originally arranged with them but adding on a 2 month old $25 non sufficient funds check charge. So, as I had mentioned before, I very reluctantly went into the local office and paid the OVER-charge that Charter Communications demanded I pay.

Now, this last incident was taken care of on January 2nd of this year. It was yesterday when I was rudely shaken by a very loud banging on my back door. Upon going to see who it was, here I saw the patch on the guys jacket "Charter" Now, let me just say that I was NOT expecting to be hearing from this company again. At least not coming to my home! Neeldess to say, I opened the door to a greeting to the sounds of the representative telling me that he was being sent to my residence to disconnect my cable service.

First of all, I did not receive anything prior to his appearance at my home... Not in the mail nor by telephone. NO ONE at all from Charter had contacted me to say that I was going to be disconnected that day for ANY reason! He proceded to tell me that he was there to either collect the money I owed them or disconnect my cable. I immediately asked him why he was here when I was not informed by his employer that I was going to be shut off?! He replied to me that he was dispatched out by them to disconnect my cable for failure to pay my bill!

I then got quite upset and told him to wait right there while I retrieved, what I thought, was the receipt info I would need to send him on his way. I came back to the door to find him in his truck. I had to then go outside and show him the receipt of payment for which "I" thought was what he needed. This was not what he was there for.instead, he had come there to collect yet another $72.01 from me or be disconnected! I was very angry at this point.

I called his company while he was there, reamed them by saying that I had NOT received anything that resembled them giving me any shutoff notice. All I received from the inept moronic representative from Charter was.."I'm sorry, this is all I know which is that we had the service man dispatched out to your address to disconnect your cable service for failure to pay". I about lost it at this point. It was like no matter what I explained to these idiots, I may've just been talking out into the open air b/c no one at the company NOR the service man there at my home would listen or understand just why I was so irrate!

I have NEVER dealt with such a imbecillic bunch in my whole adult, service buying life and now, to be subjected to this? Especially after what I had just gone through 19 days earlier???!!!

I can only say that I did pay the money. ONLY after having to tear my Mother out into the cold to get me the funds I needed because I had absolutely NO MONEY AT ALL and was only given until 3pm (it was 1:30 when the serviceman showed up at my door!) to come up with and pay that bill or face being disconnected. I explained to these morons that I would have their money by this afternoon when I received my mail because I am collecting unemployment and I ALWAYS receive my check on Thursday! No, they would not take that, they would not wait until 24 lousy hours later!

I can only add that I am so happy to be leaving this area in the next 2 months to return to Connecticut. I never had ANY of this trouble with ANY of my bill collectors there. Of course, I know I can earn more than slave wages up there to help cover all of my bills. West Virginia just doesn't have the job base that I had there, but worse yet, they have a company like Charter Communications to deal with. I feel very sorry for anyone who has to deal with these people for a long time. I plan on filing a formal complaint with their corporate office and if that doesn't hlep, then I'll go to the FCC. I WILL get my case resoleved AND get the money back that this company has STOLEN from me!
